Into The Evergreens

Mothpaw trudged along her fur was slicked with mud, and her panting was quite audible. From her view point the sky looked very dark and quite--scary in fact. Blinking her large green eyes she turned her attention back to her now slowing down mentor.

She wondered if her mentor considered her to be immature, she looked as if she were still seven moons old but she was the oldest apprentice. In fact she was 12 moons! Some warriors were younger then her.

But she knew that Shadowclan had some leader issues at the moment and hopefully when it's all sorted out she could become a warrior. Hopefully. Sighing heavily she followed her mentor and realized they were once again heading towards the Thunderclan border. A unknown smile crept upon her face.

"Hey! Is Thunderclan causing trouble again?" she meowed unexpectedly, she was much closer to Cougarface then she was before.

"If so, is that why we're checking up on them?" she asked one more, her tail lashing out impatiently.

Oh how apprentices were anoying! They ask too much questions and never stay quiet! Cougarface just took a deep breath to calm herself. Her pelt was coated with a thick layer of mud now and was getting even worse. Her pace quickened as she saw Mothpaw was gaining on her.

" No they're not causing trouble..." She breathed to her couriouse apprentice. At least I hope not...

They neared the Thunderclan boarder and Cougarface turned and sat down facing Mothpaw. "Can you smell any intruders?" She asked in a soft, calm voice.

Thunderclan. She despised them more than the rest. There were some stale scents and she knew by now that there would be some cats coming soon to replenish the markings.

Mothpaw sat down as well, her slick silver tabby pelt seemed to glitter amongst the mud that clung to her fur. Gazing around she meowed,
"Well--I do smell Thunderclan of course and--" her words cut off as a large boom of thunder collided with her voice. Blinking her leaf-green gaze she meowed,

"Wh-what's going on?" She never remembered anything ever making such a large noise before, the sky above was dark and dreary. Suddenly a flash of light flickered and for a second she swore she was blinded.

"Cougarface..?!" she whimpered quietly, her fur was now a bristling in fear, What was happening? Was the World ending? Was Starclan angry? All these question arose within in her mind and in the end she decided that it was a sign from Starclan. Yes, a sign. Maybe they were warning them of some horrible doom to come? With a sign she couldn't possibly know what was going on. The poor she-cat has never witnessed a storm before.

"Oh you're fine! It can't get you and I'm right here!" Oh, why did she have to get stuck with such a pain! Cougarface sighed and took a deep breath. Rising to her paws she signaled for Mothpaw to follow. They came closer and closer to the Thunderclan boarder. There were cats over there and she had to find out who and what they are doing so close to the boarder.

It was now a downpour and she was covered in a thick layer of mud. She felt wet to the bone! Well, she thought, at least it wasn't snow. Her whole body shook and the mud, along with the water, went scattering through the air and showering the ground. She had more energy now that she was cleaner so she moved faster.

Mothpaw sighed, perhaps Cougarface was right. In fact she was right, giving her pelt a quick shake--from head to toe, she sucked it up and followed. The wind battered at her pelt and she felt completely washed out.

She had never experienced such a heavy rain before, yet alone a storm. Indeed this weather was ridiculous. How was she suppose to train, or even fight in such conditions. This was all very outrageous.

Snorting she followed her mentor, even up until the point where she very rudely rammed herself face first into her mentor's rump once again. Grunting she meowed a quick apology and made note of why she stopped. Scenting the air she figured it out quite quickly,
"Thunderclan cats? Again?!" she was very close to going over the border and teaching these brutes a lesson herself. In fact she was even getting bored with it, why did Thunderclan always have to cause trouble.

Cougarface came closer and closer to the boarder between Shadowclan and Thunderclan. Her paws skidded to a stop in the mud as she noticed the scent was even stronger now. Mothpaw had rammed into her once again but she didn't take notice. The cats were close and she didn't want them to know they were there.

"Yes, more Thunderclan cats," she silently whispered to her small apprentice, "keep low and DON'T make a sound!" She krept closer to a clump of grass still clinging to life from the winter and peered through. What she saw alarmed her... Three Thunderclan cats.

She watched the younger tom whom she did not know. They had been noticed! Her gaze then fell upon Hawkeyes and she wanted to attack him... They were too close to their boarder.

Mothpaw ignored everything her mentor had told her and raced through the pouring rain, the thudding from her paws echoed the storming land. With a vicious battle cry she leaped at a small tabby she-cat.

She knew her mentor would be mad--no outraged with her attack but she was so--bored lately! With a growl she clung to the she-cat's back, screeching she pulled her claws down the she-cat's back. Slipping off the she-cat she snarled,

"Turn around and face me coward!" The she-cat's body was a rich brown, her fur was swarmed by thin coal-black tabby stripes. She was unusually small, maybe she was even an apprentice. Another odd feature was the spots that trailed down her pelt. But she shrugged it off, this was battle and she had no care for what the she-cat looked like.
