A Silent Clash (Forestpaw)

Nightpaw opened his eyelids, an urge trying to take over and force him back to sleep. But in a big effort he ignored it, struggling to get up while his limbs screeched in protest.

Why should I get up anyway? Like there is anything to do... Nightpaw snorted in his thoughts as he gazed around for something to do. Then something startled him. A murmur...more specifically a sorrowful murmur.

Perking his ears, he searched for the owner of the sudden noise and spotted Forestpaw a little ways away, restlessly sleeping. What's got her all worked up...? Usually she's pretty distant and emotionless.

Slipping inbetween the sleeping bodies of cats he quietly padded up to her, prodding her with one paw. "Wake up. Or you'll scare all the prey to the moonpool with your noisy murmuring."</sup>

Upon Nightpaw's nudge,she emitted a bloodcurdling scream.Then she awoke,in a cold sweat,panting like she had no air in her lungs.Then she looked at Nightpaw."Oh,good morning nightpaw.Im sorry I screamed." She got up and got out of the den,her screams still echoing accross the den.Mrrows of anger came from other apprentices."I need air." She began gulping air,trying to shake the dream from her mind.She returned to her zombie-like state soon after."Did i wake you,nightpaw?

Nightpaw jumped when Forestpaw let out a sudden scream in her awakening, his icy blue eyes widened in dismay. A quick apology escaped her jaws before she rushed out of the den.

What in StarClan's name was she dreaming about? Nightpaw thought with curiosity as he followed the panic-stricken apprentice out of the sheltering den. Meeting up with her he blinked in amusement at her sympathetic nature.

Nightpaw shook his head in reply to her question. "I was already awake. You just startled me, that's all." Nightpaw meowed. With a grin he meowed, "Want to get out of camp for a while to get some fresh air?"</sup>

"Yes.I'd like that.A lot."Not that it would matter"said her real self,deep inside."Lets go" She started tward the entrance of camp,walking along with nightpaw.She felt her real self breaking through.Maybe today she could actually be a little normaller than usual.Was it the presence of nightpaw,the fact that he was the only cat ever to talk to her.Ever.Or was it just emotions that resurfaced for awhile.She didnt know.But she wanted it to last.
