Saying Hello....for once. (Khaki & Lionstrike)

LIONSTRIKE
Sweet stutterer.

Lionstrike nodded. That would explain why she was here. At her last comment, he had to hold back a snicker. If she had meet any other RiverClan cat, she wouldn't be talking right now.

The tom got up. Khaki's personality had taken to Lionstrike and he really didn't want to leave. But as hard as he thought, he couldn't think of any excuse to stay.

He opened his mouth to say farewell, but instead out popped four words he hadn't imagined saying to her. "I can teach you."

Khaki had been looking at the ground, making marks in it with her claws when he made the comment. Her brown ears perked slightly and she lifted her head. did he really just say he would teach her?
"I don't want to get you in trouble." she said softly.
She waited silently for his answer. If he was anything like Stoneshade....she swallowed as another shiver threaten to overtake her. She could still hear the words of her friend in her ear.

Being a warrior doesn't mean always doing what your clan says, khaki. Sometimes you have to go outside the lines. sometimes you have to do things that could risk everything.

She knew then...when he said that, that he was going to stay with her no matter what. Stoneshade was different from Rabbit. Maybe not much but he was willing to help her a lot, even at the risk of hurting his clan. She mentally shook her head. She needed to listen for Lionstrikes answer. Maybe he was the sign Stoneshade was giving her.

LIONSTRIKE

Lionstrike looked dumb founded. Had he really just said that? What was he doing? If he got caught, he would be in enormous trouble. And he couldn't even imagine what they would do to Khaki.

Lionstrike gave himself a mental shake as the sound of Khaki's voice entered his ears. She had thought of the same thing. Or something along the lines. Lionstrike thought for a moment. The only voice he could hear at first was his saying no no no. But then, then a quiet but strong voice entered. It said do it. And Lionstrike knew that he had too.

"It'll b-b-be f-fine." he stuttered out. He was really saying it, and he was partially glad he was.

Khaki's tail curled with excitement.
Yes! I knew it! Thank you Stoneshade! Thank you! she thought to herself. She smiled at the tom. She didn't know why but that feeling kept growing inside her and it was turning into more than security. She didn't want to voice it yet, but she would soon she was sure.
"Just tell me where and when to meet you. I'll do my best to be there." she said. "And thank you Lionstrike."

LIONSTRIKE

Lionstrike grinnd, happy to see that Khaki was excited. The tom stood and started to head back to camp. Thinking quickly he meowed "Meet me b-b-back here j-just b-before dawn. We c-c-can cross over t-t-to the island." he paused before adding "So we w-w-won't get c-caught." The water would be cold, but they had less chance of getting caught in the early morning hours.

Khaki's body quivered slightly with excitement as she stood up.
"Alright. i can manage that." she purred. "Thank you again, Lionstrike."
She smiled, quickly licked down a few pieces of fur on her chest and flicked her tail in farewell before slipping off, to look for a place called home tonight. however she wasn't sure how much sleep she would get.

LIONSTRIKE

Lionstrike nodded in farewell to the she-cat. He hoped that she wouldn't come into any trouble, especially when he starts to teach her to swim. There would be more of a risk of getting caught. Especially if he had to be on dawn patrol, how would he tell her not to come? Well, he would wait for that to happen. Lionstrike would just take it one step at a time.

Padding back into the forest, following along the river, Lionstrike couldn't get the light brown she-cat out of his head. Khaki's image kept popping up at random moments. What was he doing?
