Saying Hello....for once. (Khaki & Lionstrike)

There’s too much pain in goodbye.

The dark brown she-cat slowly padded along the beach towards the small island that the clans met on. Her bright blue eyes slowly looked around for a moment before she sat down beside the log that would help a cat go across. She tilted her head slightly, and a pained look filled her eyes.
"Why did you come here Khaki?" she murmured to herself. "You know this place only brings bad memories."
The she-cat quickly licked down a few pieces of fur as the image of her friend passed before her eyes.
I hope your in Starclan Stoneshade. If you are, could you please tell me what I'm doing? she pleaded silently. She sat there quietly before sighing. She wasn't going to get an answer. She never did. She swallowed slightly and looked at the water surrounding the island.
I'd end up leaving my scent on the log. I don't want to clans angry with me. She thought, before starting towards the water. She put one foot in and the memory of her almost drowning covered her vision. She quickly pulled it back and sighed.
"You stupid cat!" she snapped at herself pacing back and forth alone the bank "What are you thinking?! You can't swim! Yeah you can fish, but Stonshade never taught you to swim!"
She stopped and collapsed on the beach staring at the water. What was she doing with herself? She knew if any cat happened to come by they would think she was crazy. She let out a sigh.
just need one sign, Stoneshade. Just one. please? she though, before slowly closing her eyes.

{{He he....I just got perfect idea....it would defiantly give her the sign she wanted...-grins evilly- I'm mean to my cats.}}

LIONSTRIKE
Sweet stutterer.

Lionstrike walked beside the shimmering river. He hadn't seen it shine like it was now for a long time. The RiverClan warrior lifted his chin, taking in all of the sunshine that he had missed for the past couple of moons. He didn't even know that a storm could last that long, but apparently it could.

The ginger warrior padded out of from underneath the trees and too the beach. It was Green-leaf and two legs normally came to the lake, but since the rain had just ended a day ago, it didn't surprise him that none were on the beach.

What did surprise Lionstrike was another cat, a loner by the smell of it. Wow, t-t-two lon-n-ners in one d-d-d-day. He thought as he started over to the she-cat, not wanting to scare her but not wanting for her to know he was there either.

{{I don't think Lion is needed anymore on the other board, but if he is we'll have to post-pon the role-play untill he is no longer needed.

Khaki sighed and opened her eyes again. something inside her told her she needed to go onto the island. She defiantly wasn't going to swim. Hopefully the clan cats wouldn't mind her going across the log.
She slowly got up stretching her joints before going over to the log and sniffing it. Different scents caught her nose and she tilted her head slightly. She balanced herself before jumping up on the edge. She slowly started forward looking around her.
"This isn't to bad..." she said once she got about half way. She took another step forward and her paw slipped out from under her. She tried to grab a hold of the log but she didn't grab anything in time and she plummeted into the cold water below.

LIONSTRIKE

Lionstrike watched the cat, padding quietly a few fox lengths behind her. What was she doing? Lionstrike was curios to know as she stepped onto the log. Did she stay on the island? Was she just hunting? But he could tell that she wasn't comfortable around water.

He padded forward, putting a paw onto the log and opened his mouth to call out. But then he thought if he did that he would startle her. She might not know how to swim. But Lionstrike soon knew that she didn't as he saw her slip into the lake below.

His instincts turned on as he was racing into the water. The water was icey cold as he swam toward the struggling cat. He saw her go under for a moment and then he dived under and pushed her up onto his shoulder and slowly he started back to the beach.

Khaki started panicking the moment she hit the water. She flailed trying to stay above but soon she went under.
Oh starclan no...Not like thins. Please! She begged silently. Suddenly a large figure swam towards her and pushed her upwards.
Stoneshade? she thought as she broke to surface of the water. Her paws soon found land and she quickly pulled herself up to the shore before collapsing, sides heaving more from panic then from lose of breath. She coughed up a few things of water then turned, expecting to see Stonesade sitting there looking at her like she was a dumb kit. However, she was startled to see a ginger tom with his fur soaked. The memory started to flash back but she pushed it away. She tensed slightly recognizing the scent that barely came off of him because of the water.
Oh man....he's a Riverclan cat....I hope he's not upset that i just tried to go on the island. she thought. I knew that was a mouse-brained move!

{{For your info, Stoneshade told her a lot about Starcaln so she does believe in them.}}

LIONSTRIKE
Sweet stutterer.

Lionstrike felt the weight lift from him as solid ground touched under his paws. He sloshed his way through the water onto dry land. His fur dripped with water and sagged under the weight of it.

Shaking, most of the water came off and his fur stood on end. But Lionstrike didn't pay attention to it as we padded over to the form of the cat he had just saved. Bending down to look into her face he meowed "Are y-y-you ok-k-kay?"

khaki stared at the tom for the longest time. He wasn't mad? and he was right in her face to. She quickly swallowed.
"Yeah...I'm sorry I came into your territory. I really didn't mean to trespass. I can leave right now if you want me to. I'm really sorry." she said quickly, a small hint of fear in her voice. She knew some of the clan cats were nice, but she has come onto their land. She really didn't want to fight the tom at the moment.
She kept looking up at him, and something seemed to fill her. She didn't know what it was. It seemed like security...like what she had felt with Stoneshade. But she hadn't felt it in so long she didn't know.

LIONSTRIKE

Lionstrike lifted himself up. He listened to what the she-cat said and meowed "I-i-its f-f-fine." he gave a weak smile "The b-beach is s-sorta l-l-like nut-tr-tral t-territ-tory." But then again, she was a loner. Did that even include loners? He looked back over to the island, curios as to why she wanted to get on it. But he turned back to her.

"I'm L-lionstr-strike. Wh-what its y-your n-n-name?" Lionstrike asked. He knew the she-cat was too shaken up to chase off.

Khaki stared at the tom for the longest time. "It's Khaki." she said softly bowing her head slightly. "I come from the land where the clans dwelled before. A loner there told me about you all. I came when i was a kit and traveled here. Since i was about 12 moons old I've roamed the land. I didn't mean to trespass. i just felt like i needed to find something."
She slowly sat down wrapping her tail around her paws. She looked up at the ginger tom. Lionstrike....sounded like a strong name.

Lionstrike listened to her story. The old forest? Amazing! He wondered how different life would be there instead of here at the lake. He thought for a moment. She must have been very brave and strong to make that journey alone.

"It's f-fine." he stuttered out. "K-k-khaki, it w-would be b-b-b-best if you l-left here. R-R-RiverClan wouldn't l-l-like to f-f-find another tr-tresspasser today." Ever since he had seen her, he knew that he could not turn her in.

Khaki looked at the tom. "I understand. I didn't plan on staying here long anyways." she said standing up. She slowly padded closer to the tom. "Thank you, for pulling me out of the river." she purred running against the tom slightly in thanks. "Maybe we'll see each other around."
She turned and flicked her tail slightly before starting off. something seemed to make her stop and turn towards the tom.
"Just wondering did you happen to know a tom named Stoneshade?"

LIONSTRIKE

Lionstrike was a little confused and shocked at her gesture of thanks. Obviously she hadn't had very much ineraction with the Clans or she would know that if she did that, her face would have been clawed off. Then again if she had met another Clan cat, she would have drowned.

Lionstrike also got up to leave. But her question surprised him. St-stoneshade? Lionstrike had known the tom, he had been a strong and noble member of RiverClan. How did she know him. The ginger warrior decided to voice the question.

"H-how d-did you know St-stoneshade?"

Khaki faced the tom again. His stuttering problem was kind of weird but she thought it was cute.
"When I first came here I had fallen into the river....much like I had just then." she said flicking her tail towards the log that went to the island. "Like you did, Stoneshade dove in a saved me. At the time I didn't know who he was, or what the scent on his was. Soon enough we started meeting and he told me about the Clans, and the ancient cats called Starclan. We met a few times and he taught me to fish and hunt around the river."
She paused as the memory of her old friend fighting the rouges filled her mind. He didn't even have a chance against them. She suppressed a shiver and continued her story.
"One day while I was waiting for him, I heard yowls close by and started that way. By the time I got there some rouges had already killed Stoneshade. I tried to stay with him because I knew the Riverclan patrol would be around soon, but when they came they chased me off. Since then I’ve been roaming around here just trying to survive."
She finished her story and ran a paw over her ear, trying to get the images of the mangled warrior out of her mind.

{{Let's say when the patrol came back that a loner had been there. They blamed her for killing him.}}

Lionstrike listened intently. She had been the loner? She had k- wait, she said rouges killed Stoneshade? The warrior was confused. Should he believe what she said? But if it was a lie, then he had just saved the cat who had murdered Stoneshade.

But then the tom got thinking about it. If she had been the one who killed Stoneshade, she probably wouldn't have told him her past. She probably would have killed him too.

After some moments of silence, Lionstrike meowed "I b-b-believe you." pausing he asked "B-but he n-never t-t-taught you t-t-to swim?"

Khaki shook her head no. "He was going to, but the day he was, he was killed." she said softly digging her claws into the ground. "He told me if he could teach me how to swim maybe he could see about me getting into the clan."
She flicked her tail slightly in irritation or anger. She couldn't blame the clan cats. They had just been going by reaction.
"Since the patrol chased me off, I’ve tried not to come in contact with them. You’re the first Riverclan cat I’ve talked to in three moons."
