The kits are coming (Fawnstep)

Snowflower lay in the warrior den. Despite being heavy with kits she wasn't about to give up her postition as deputy. So she had chosen not to move to the nursery. Now she was regretting that mistake. The kits were on their way, half a moon late too. She yowled and moved as quickly as she could to the medicine cat's den.

"My kits... they're on their way." She gasped, collapsing in the entrance to the den.
"Help..." She begged Fawnstep.

FAWNSTEP
Every dream ever told, eventually comes true.

Fawnstep raced from her den, herbs that were essential for the birthing process, hanging from her mouth. Setting them down she quickly began soothing the queen with gentle licks. "Shh, clam down." she murmured.

Winter is almost here--kits aren't a good idea. Blinking rapidly, she began examining the queen. The first set of contractions would soon start, her rank as deputy would end. Unless she had a way to hide this from the clan, Wolfstar wouldn't be able to let Snowflower keep the rank until she's able to perform her duties once more. It wasn't that he was cruel, it was for Riverclan. Having an unstable deputy wouldn't help make them stronger. Some--cats will definitely have something to say about this.

"The first kit is coming, be strong." Even the toughest she-cat wouldn't be able to fight this battle without some wounds. One strong contraction, was all she needed. And there it was. Her soothing licks ceased as she rushed to the 'now' born kit. A ginger tom. Bringing him away from his mother, she expertly tore the sac that contained the kit. A squeal erupted from his throat, nudging the tom closer to his mom she awaited for the next kit to be born.

"Your doing great, Snowflower." This will definitely gain the public's attention in a few seconds.

She looked at Fawnstep.
"I can't..." She said through gritted teeth. "Go into the nursery. The clan... needs me. There's been too much change lately. Please... is there anyone who can nurse them. My duty to the clan comes first." She paused and looked a the little tom.

"Bloodkit." She mewed, licking him.
"There's something wrong." She mewed. "I can't feel any milk coming out..." She looked at Fawnstep, maybe this was Starclan telling them that someone else was to raise her kits.

"Oh my... here comes another one..."

Every dream ever told, eventually comes true.

If only Fawnstep knew what Snowflower was going to say, if only she were prepared for the mental slap. She, herself was a cat that wasn't allowed to even ponder the typical she-cat want, kits. Yet, here was a cat who could so easily give them up, as if she didn't know the consequences. It was Snowstar all over again. I'm not going to let her do this to herself.

"Snowflower." she began her voice as firm as her soft voice could allow it, "You know that you can never claim these kits yours, you can have no attachments what-so-ever." The words only seemed much more sugar-coated than what pain they truly caused. "Snowstar, suffered because of the kits she gave up. She went through such a hard time."

Sighing she eased her talking to allow the birthing of another kit. Going through the same process she only stopped to chatter once more when announcing that this next gray-colored kit was in fact a 'tom'. Closing her eyes she murmured quietly, "Queens can't feel the milk 'simply' coming out, kits have to be presently suckling. And even then it's a more feeling of the kits needing your stomach if anything. Pausing she flattened her ears,

"But it if this comes to be the issue, then we'll have this medically checked." Fawnstep closed her eyes, the she-cat was due to at least birth one more kit and then--? What would happen? Twilightfrost was the only queen left, her recent departure from Snowpaw, Ravenpaw, and Wavepaw seemed much too soon to suddenly give birth to more. Plus, she wouldn't have the milk to feed them.

"At this rate, I can't say the kits will survive, there isn't a queen with milk in Riverclan. That is if your milk doesn't come in." Fawnstep had to do what she could to make Snowflower keep her kits, she couldn't possibly let the she-cat go through this pain.

"I'm sorry." It's for the best. But what if she simply refused, what if Riverclan meant so much more--then what?

"I'm sure that Wolfstar can make an, exception." She said. "I didn't have a mate when I was deputy." She bowed her head a little. "That was before. These kits must have been conceived right before..." She went quiet, remembering what had happened only a little while before the battle.
She gazed at the blue tom. It had been a battle that had taken his father, a battle that had made Snowflower the deputy.
"Battlekit." She mewed, licking him.

Then the third kit was born, the only she-cat of the litter. Snowflower sighed a little, the kit was lovely. She looked pure white no other colour on her. However the kit was covered in more blood than her two siblings. And it had been in blood that her father had been lost. She sighed, gazing at the kit. She knew that her kit would need a strong name to survive the winter. The other two kits had strong names, now this third one would have a strong name. A name that would cause fear for any cat who fought her in the future. A name of fire, and strength, to carry her father's spirit.

"Blazekit." She decreeded.
"Blaze, Battle and Blood..."
