Can The Sea be Trained? (Wavekit)

Snowflower stretched and padded out of the warriors den. It was early morning, and it was a perfect day for training. She poked her head into the apprentice's den, and smiled at the sleeping cats. All of them new apprentices. She remembered when she was an apprentice.
"Wake up." She mewed, padding over to Wavepaw. "It's time to begin your training."

I'm just as boring and dull as I'll ever be.}

Her first night as an apprentice was pretty common, she found a nest in between her siblings and drifted into sleep. Training, hunting, doing apprentice things never even crossed her dreams, instead it was silent and her sleep was well-deserved. The little she-cat had been completely oblivious to the fact that her apprenticeship would officially start today. In fact she had no idea what to expect, how could she? Her life was so screwed up that all she knew how to do was think and mope around.

Snowflower's voice hadn't exactly woken her, in fact all she did was open her eyes and groggily yawn. But then it was back to her dreamless sleep, suddenly a hard jab to her stomach from Snowpaw sent her jumping out of her nest. Hissing with annoyance she was about to claw her sister some sense, but the little white cat was sleeping. Her actions had been caused her dreams most likely. Sighing Wavekit ended up slinking through the bundles of apprentices, and at last she was outside of the den.

Squeezing her eyes shut she forced the tiredness away, she could sense light coming through her eye-lids and slowly the she-cat opened them. Bright sunlight welcomed her first day of apprenticeship, while a morning breeze ruffled her gray and white fur. Spotting her mentor she padded towards the snow-white she-cat,

"Sorry for taking so long, I'm not used to waking up and actually doing something." she explained quietly.

"That's okay." Snowflower mewed. "Roundbelly had to drop soaking wet moss on me to get me to even crack an eyelid during my first two moons of training." She told the young she-cat.
She chuckled a little. "Come on, we're going on a hunting patrol. After all, we don't want cranky elders." She grinned.
"Come on Wavepaw."

At first Wavepaw wasn't sure what to expect from her mentor, at first the little she-cat had thought she'd be serious and mean. How she wondered onto that idea was, from what she heard in the last few days in the nursery. Which was basically ill mutterings from Crimsonclaw and Sorrelstike. But they were wrong, Snowflower seemed kind and humorous, a cat Wavepaw could actually learn to get along with.

She wasn't really sure on how to answer the older cat's statements, so instead she nodded. The thought of hunting made her claws curl with excitement, it was just the idea of sinking her fangs into prey that she actually brought down that made it so exciting. Her, the little boring kit would be hunting for her clan today. This brought another question,

"Does this mean we're going to explore the territory?" she asked, her brown eyes blinking in complete and utter wonderment. "Or are we going to stick in one area?" Her questions were probably much different from those of Ravenpaw or Snowkit. In fact knowing them, Snowkit would be complaining, and Ravenpaw would be urging himself to be strong.

Suddenly something drifted throughout her thoughts, we're Riverclan--wait fishing! Her excitement was nearly bubbling over, "Will I learn how to fish?" Finally a question that a normal apprentice would ask, not a boring question, but a question yearning for the answer 'yes.'

"Actually, I am going to teach you how to catch one of my favoured prey. Duck." She said. "You see, the trick is to have one cat leap on its back and stop it from flying away. While the other cat runs in and makes for the neck. It is quite a tasty meal." She paused. "That's right Wavepaw, Riverclan cats eat more than just fish. We also eat ducks, frogs and water loving rodents... like muskrats." She told her apprentice.
"Come along." She flicked her tail and walked off.

Wavepaw's eyes widened, a duck must be pretty huge if it needs two cat's to kill it. But wasn't she a bit too--small? Not to mentioned inexperienced to handle such a task? She didn't want to pester her mentor with useless commentary, but she also didn't want to risk her life just for a delicious meal. Blinking a few times she slowly mustered up the courage to speak her worries,

"Wouldn't it be dangerous?" she timidly meowed at first, padding along side her mentor she slowed to a stop. Flicking her tail she added, "By the sounds of it, you make it seem as if it's a bigger creature." looking away she shuffled her paws nervously, "I'm also very new to this whole 'apprentice' thing? Wouldn't catching something smaller be easier?"

The last thing she wanted to do was sound boring, but the little she-cat couldn't help but be worried. She was sure the average apprentice would be bouncing with excitement at the mention of this task, instead Wavekit found herself twitching with anxiety. "I'm sorry--" she blurted out, not sure of how to fix the situation she added, "I'm probably just worrying over nothing." she sighed, how boring can I get?
