Mistakes We've Made {Riverspirit & Jadepaw}

Eclispeclaw sat outside of the clan's entrance the sun wasn't quite up, but the milky-golden rays shot up clearly from over the horizon. Sighing she let her claws slide into the earth.

What do I tell Riverspirit? That there's this weird rogue who keeps stalking me? And that I can't stop thinking about his mouse-brained face? It was all very confusing, not to mention embarrassing, she nearly felt as if she shouldn't have done this at all. She should just turn tail and run, just get out of this place so she wouldn't have to face Riverspirit with the truth.

Cringing she wondered what her friend would say, would she tell her to turn Lightning in for living on clan territory? Would she tell her that something's majorly wrong with her? Maybe she was sick? The little black she-cat was nothing but confused. What am I supposed to do?

The sun was starting to peek out, Where was she? Eclipseclaw had half the mind to go and claw her best friend awake but she decided against it. The blue-gray she-cat will come just have some patience. Too bad for Eclipseclaw because she was anything but patient.

Sighing once more she finally decided to sit down, she pondered over what the dawn patrol would be like. It seemed like seasons ago since she's been on her last patrol. And if she had gone out on any it had been pouring. The sunlight was quite welcoming, it warmed her fur as well as her heart.

It was as if the green-leaf heat was making her a slightly nicer person then she had been. There always was that saying that gloomy weather could make one gloomy themselves. But then again she was Eclipseclaw and as far as anyone's concerned she was always irritated.

Riverspirit drowsily opened her eyes, closing them a moment later, her eyes straining against the slight morning light starting to stream over the horizon. Opening her eyes a little more cautiously, she let her eyes adjust before she stretched her jaws into a large yawn.

Getting up, she remembered she was a part of the dawn patrol this morning. Riverspirit just hoped she wouldn't be too dysfunctional due to the battle yesterday night. She still felt a little sting in certain places, and her muscles ached so bad she could just fall right back into her nest. Sighing, she started off out of the den. I'll just have to survive it.

Exiting the den her first instinct was to head toward the apprentice den to wake up her lazy apprentice. But saw a glance of a familiar black pelt. Eclipseclaw...? What is she doing out there...? Is she already waiting for me and Tanglepaw? But Jadepaw isn't with her... Then her eyes widened in sudden realization. Oh yeah! She was going to tell me something! I forgot!

In a panicked rush, she sped off toward the black warrior, skidding to a stop when she caught up to her. "Sorry." she panted. "Now, what's up? Is it that important that we have to wake up so early and be away from everyone else?"</sup>

Eclipseclaw nearly leaped from her fur the moment Riverspirit spoke, she hadn't expected her friend to just appear out of no where. Calming her bristling fur Eclipseclaw gave her a narrowed glare,

"If it weren't important I would say it in camp." she meowed, her voice held a such unusual serious-tone, in fact her voice sounded anything but Eclipseclaw. Biting her lip she quietly looked away. What do I say? What do I do? Augh! Snorting Eclipseclaw whipped around,

"Ok just don't sound--alarmed." she meowed quietly, closing her eyes she inhaled deeply before starting her story,

"Ok so there's this strange rogue-tom named Lightning. Er--Shadowtalon and Tigerheart's old friend. And I keep running into him--" pausing she looked up, "And for some reason I don't want to turn him in. I actually can't wait to run into him again because it's just so--" She could barely finish, she didn't know how to describe it.

"I mean he's mouse-brained and I constantly want to rip his face off, and--and-and" Her claws were now expertly shredding the dry earth beneath her, they sheathed--unsheathed-sheathed-unsheathed.

"I can't stop thinking about his stupid face!" she screeched at last, her eyes blazing with anger. No! This--this isn't happening!

Riverspirit listened carefully, finding it rare for Eclipseclaw to think so importantly about something. Especially for her to bring her out here to just to tell her. But soon Riverspirit found out why. And at her new discovery, she grinned.

Riverspirit knew Eclipseclaw wouldn't be the cat to be in love easily, and she knew she'd do anything to think otherwise and go completely against the idea of loving someone. Eclipseclaw was a tough, independent cat. The thought of being weak for love would just make her fur bristle.

And of course, that thought of being in love didn't even cross her mind. Why else would she think of this certain tom constantly? Usually if she saw a rogue, she'd rip it's head off. And if not that report to the leader or drag him out. But just the lust for running into him again and thinking about him every day, it's just too obvious her unknown feelings for him.

Still grinning, she meowed, "Looks like poor, tough Eclipseclaw has fallen in love. I never thought I'd see the day." Riverspirit twitched her whiskers in amusement. But she didn't want to just keep teasing her. She was sure Eclipseclaw didn't want that, or she wouldn't have brought her out here in the first place.

"Eclipseclaw, whether you like him or not though, you do have to be careful. You can't just bump into him and let him go all the time. A Clan cat might spot you and think your a traitor. Especially if he's around during a patrol and you have no choice but to turn him in." Sighing, she didn't know if she was helping or not. But she didn't want Eclipseclaw to end up hurt or something worse.

"Besides, it's not only the Clan you have to worry about, but Lightning. You can't trust rogues. You never know what they might do."</sup>

*Jadepaw*
<sup>I’m no different inside.

A huge yawn escaped a young tortoiseshell she-cat’s mouth, and shortly after a gasp of realization. Jumping to her paws she quickly limped past the other sleeping apprentices out to the clearing. With a quick glance across the clearing both her mentor or the beautiful blue-gray she-cat that she was suppose to go on patrol with.

Limping toward the warriors den she poked her head in and adjusted her eyes to see in the dim den, but there was no sign of the two she-cats. Jadepaw leaped back of the den and quickly made her way for the entrance of the den pleading that they hadn’t gone far.

With little trouble getting out of the thorn covered entrance, into the moor land and to her relief both of the she-cat’s were sitting outside having a quiet meeting about something. Keeping her distance, so she doesn’t eavesdrop on Eclipseclaw, and Riverspirit.</sup>

LIGHTNING
Hater of love.

Lightning raced across the more. He was stupid for running right into WindClan camp! What was he thinking? But he had to tell them about Hunter. Who knew what that strange tom was planning?
It was only a few minutes later that the camp came into his sights. A few moments later, he saw three figures outside it. What was he going to say? Hello I'm a rouge and I met this cat who I think is dangerous? He couldn't run up there and say just that! Besides, they would probably run him off before he could say anything about Hunter.
But then Lightning saw who two of the cats were. Eclipseclaw and her apprentice, something-paw. Would she listen to him? Let him explain his barging into them?
But what about that third she-cat? Would she attack him on sight? Would she chase him off? What was he getting himself into?

But Lightning was so caught up into his thoughts, he didn't notice how close he had gotten. And then, before he knew it, he had run right into Eclipseclaw.
He let out a screech of surprise and he tumbled into her. It was choas for a moment, but then Lightning opened his eyes to see Eclipseclaw right under him, there snouts touching.

ECLIPSECLAW
I really don't care who you are.

A yowl of alarm escaped her mouth but it was useless, Lightning was already here--pinning her to the ground, not to mention how close his face was. The whole thing was embarrassing, not to mention her friend thought she was lovesick. And the certain tom that she was apparently head over paws for was pinning her down for everyone to see. Fine, be this way. Come and barge me over, I'll embarrass you as well.

"Hi honey, nice to see you finally came back to me." Eclipseclaw meowed drastically, her green eyes battering innocently. Turning her attention onto Riverspirit she meowed casually,
"This is the stupid face I was telling you about." Smirking she sneered, "Isn't he adorable?"

Hear me say

Sending a strong hind-kick into his stomach, she slithered herself out of his weekend grasp. Sitting up, she began smoothing her once clean fur with her tongue, while watching Lightning out of the corner of her eye. As she finished she slowly brought her head up,

"Ok, spit it out why are you here?" Eclipseclaw wasn't exactly sure why the tom was standing here, nor was she sure why he was so close to the camp, or exactly why he took that form of greeting. For some reason her stomach fluttered with butterflies, it was exhilarating, yet alone exciting. Every moment he was close she could feel her fur heat up, while her head was swimming in the stars. She could have this moment last forever, and at the same time she wanted to have him leave.

LIGHTNING
Hater of love.

Lightning couldn't move. His eyes were locked onto the enchanting green orbs that surrounded him, suffocated him. He couldn't move or think. he had never realized how much Eclipseclaw's eyes looked like Angel.
"Don't go there, Lightning." he mumbled almost inaudibly. His trance was broken when Eclipseclaw kicked him. He let out a grunt and stepped away from her, and the other two cats he just remembered were there.
Then he heard Eclipseclaw's voice. "What are you talking about, she-cat?" he growled as he started to build up the walls around his heart once more. He would never fall in love again. Not after what happened the last time.
Her next words brought him back to why he had come the in the first place.
He swallowed hard. The easiest way was to talk to the leader he bet. It would also give him more time to think about what to say.
But waht would Eclipseclaw do if he said 'Take me to your leader.' would she even take an order from him?
He decided to risk it. Who knew what Eclipseclaw, or the other cats would reply.
"I have something important to tell your leader or whoever is in charge."

Eclipseclaw's eyes slightly lost their focus at his words, Why did he want to speak to Hazelstar? It almost made her sick when she realized what her subconscious mind was wanting, what if he wants to join the clan? The little black she-cat wasn't really sure why that appealed to her, but all in all it simply did. If the older tom were to join the clan, he would be reunited with his older friends, he'd have a better life, she'd see him everyday....

The coal black cat snapped herself out of it, it'd be a pain if he were to join, a real pain. Narrowing her green gaze once more she meowed,
"Fine." Flicking her tail she stood up, quickly she stretched her back with a comfortable arch, and then she was back to normal height. "I'll escort Lightning to our leader, Riverspirit go on with Jadepaw and I'll catch up after he's finished." It was ironic how everything was, one second she yearning to be talking about him, when she finally did he showed up on her doorstep. The world worked in such mysterious ways, half the time she was sure Starclan was out to get her.

As she padded towards the Windclan entrance she made sure to keep her distance, and also to keep her eyes straight ahead. She was bringing a rogue into camp, not her best friend. Finally she began to wonder what he truly wanted to tell them, something inside told her it wasn't good news either.

LIGHTNING
Hater of love.

The tom had been holding his breath, wondering what would happen. Would she demand him to tell her what it was. Or would she refuse to even take him? You could imagine his surprise when she agreed to take him to their leader.

Lightning nodded in good bye to the other two cats. Why, he didn't know. But at lest he was using his manners. At least Angel would be happy for that much.

Even though they were right outside the camp, to Lightning, it felt that his mind rushed through hours of thinking it mer seconds. As he padded behind Ecliseclaw, his mind seem to be stuck on her. And why he was here.

Normally, the tom wouldn't have even thought of warning the Clan about some strange rouge from a far off land. But here he was, warning them. Why? He was positive it wasn't for his old friends. They never had cared about him. They let love blind them. He wouldn't be surprised if they had had their heart's broken yet.

If it wasn't for his friends, then why was he telling WindClan about the rouge called The Hunter? His eyes were fixed on the cat in front of him. Eclipseclaw, her sleek black coat. Her shining eyes. Her personality, what was it about this she-cat that apealed to him so much? He would never admit it, but everytime he saw her, his mind wandered back to the time he had spent with Angel. To the time he let love confuse him and get in the way.

Never again would he love, never. He knew better now. Love would only hurt you. But still, he couldn't help but like the she-cat, if only a little.

Riverspirit jumped when a clash of black and ginger fur collided right in front of her, her eyes wide with surprise. Soon when the burr of action soothed, Eclipseclaw was below the larger body of an unfamiliar tom.

At first Riverspirit's instinct was to attack him, protecting her best friend from any harm. Even though she could protect herself at any given time. But when she introduced him she relaxed, her green eyes narrowed. What a coincidence.

As Eclipseclaw questioned him and Lightning explained, she set her gaze on the rogue the whole time. She couldn't detect any signs of lying or such, and he certainly looked as if something was bothering him. But what? Only StarClan knew.

Sighing when Eclipseclaw dismissed her and Jadepaw to go out on their own and she'd catch up later, she couldn't help but be disappointed. I hope she comes back soon...

Getting up, she slipped in the other direction of where Eclipseclaw and Lightning were headed off to. Instead, she looked around the deserted camp for any signs of Jadepaw and Tanglepaw, the other two members of the dawn patrol.

At a glance she soon spotted Jadepaw, not too far from where she was standing. Padding up to her she meowed, "Come on. We need to fetch Tanglepaw then get out of here. Eclipseclaw has some buisness to attend to." Without waiting for a reply, she spun around and pelted toward the apprentice den, poking her head inside.

"Tanglepaw!" she hissed. "Wake up! Dawn patrol."</sup>

TANGLEPAW
Live, Love & Never forget to Laugh.

Tanglepaw was enjoying his peaceful slumber, his subconscious mind was in complete delight, due to the knowledge that he would not be partaking in the Dawn patrol. He strictly informed his mentor on how he wasn't fit to do such training, due to wounds from the battle. It made perfect sense, plus he got out of waking up at sun break, and he didn't have to go and patrol the territory for something that wasn't even there. Like anyone would attack us after what happened at the battle.

But then, out of no where came Riverspirit's shrill--annoying voice, demanding him to get up. What the Starclan? The scrawny ginger tom opened his eyes in utter disgust. There she was, his mentor, standing at the exit of his den. Either he could fake his death, escape through the twisted brambles of the den, or face his enemy head on. Anyone of those idea would work perfectly, except for the fact that he had just woken up and was in no mood to do squat.

Instead of bringing out his claws and teeth he simply meowed codly,
"I despise you." As the little tom got to his paws, he 'accidentally' kicked his den-mate's head. Narrowing his gaze he was preparing himself to apologize when he then discovered that it was Thornpaw. Shrugging he decided not to do anything, the tom definitely deserved a kick to the head every once in awhile.

Then the greatest idea in the world dawned on him,
"Riverspirit? Frostbite is probably wounded from the battle and might not be able to take Thornpaw out for awhile--" pausing he dropped his ears to the back of his head, adding the innocent appeal, "Can he come with us? Please?" Oh, sweet, sweet revenge.

Thornpaw snapped his head up when he was greeted with a sudden rude wake-up call by one of the apprentices, sending a deep growl rumbling through his throat. Right now he didn't care who it was, he was angry.

"Watch it! Stupid fur ball." Thornpaw snarled, glaring directly at the cat who delivered the kick. Once his vision cleared, Tanglepaw was standing infront of him, mumbling something. Perking his ears up he caught him talking about taking him on the dawn patrol.

That little brat...! Thornpaw thought with rage flaming up in his chest, his black fur bristling. He was going to protest on being on the patrol at all but right when he opened his jaws Riverspirit interrupted him.


Riverspirit
I live to fight and win

Riverspirit grinned in amusement at Tanglepaw's expression when he was woken up, everything on him and the way he acted telling her he wasn't in a good mood at all. But this didn't bother Riverspirit. She liked to see him feel tortured.

As Tanglepaw got up, luckily without complaining, he kicked one of the nearby sleeping apprentices in the den, the black tom immediately snapping awake and hissing with rage. Riverspirit was about to prepare a lecture, but Tanglepaw started off with him joining.

What is he up to...? Riverspirit thought suspiciously, narrowing her eyes at the pleading tom. "Fine." Riverspirit sighed. "You have a point. Besides, it won't do any harm to add a new member to the patrol I guess..."</sup>

TANGLEPAW
Live, Love & Never forget to Laugh.

Irritating little fusspot-- His anger quickly dissolved into joy as Riverspirit agreed to his proposition, "Great! Thornpaw's one of my best friends, so it'll be funner with him here!" Turning his head so his mentor couldn't see he sent Thornpaw a rather smug-triumphant smirk, he had won this round. Blinking he quickly restored himself into a bouncing ball of excitement and shot out of the apprentice's den faster then a rabbit.

Luckily for Jadepaw, Tanglepaw did have control over his speed and was able to skid to a complete stop before ramming into his three-legged sister. Although he didn't succeed in keeping the dirt from splattering all over her. "Sorry." he mumbled, his sister was practically the only cat on earth who could make him apologize. She might be disabled, but she was fierce! And kind of scary when she was mad.

Looking behind him, he could feel his evil grin reappearing as Thornpaw and Riverspirit trudged on towards them. Gee--let's see how I can make this even more miserable. Padding towards his mentor he meowed,
"Riverspirit? I think we might to patrol the whole territory. What if there's still some rogues aren't there?" Any cat would hate trekking through the whole moorland, specially at the crack of dawn.

"We can't sleep soundly knowing that there's rogues out there? We must check the whole territory!" The ginger tom wasn't going to play nice, Thornpaw was always being an angry ball of thistles, it was finally time for someone to put him in his place. Even if he had to get his paws dirty, he'd show that tom a lesson.
