Joining the fallen

Dawnfrost stood, her pelt swirled with stars. She took a deep sigh and looked to the battle that had taken her life. She also looked to her brother, who had fallen as well. So many were dead because of this battle, including the leader of Riverclan... former leader. Snowstar... Dawnfrost sighed and curled her tail around her paws. She had died defending her clan, died bravely. And had confessed her love to her leader before she died. She didn't care that her love was unreturned. That did not matter to her. No, she had spoken it, that was what mattered.

Love can never last forever.

A snow white figure appeared behind the ginger-and-white she-cat. Padding up to her side she took a seat next to her clan mate and smiled warmly at her,
“Dawnfrost, you did wonderful in the battle and I’m sorry you lost your live so early.” She murmured looking down into to the small sparkling pool that showed the clearing filled with dead bodies and clan cats victorious. Her eyes turned toward two lifeless black and white bodies and three small bodies next to them. Closing her eyes she wished she could have lived a little bit longer to be with her three kits and to give them their warrior names. Looking down at her paws she knew she’ll never see her true love ever again. [/center][/sup]

"I gave it protecting you. I would have it no other way my leader." She said, gently nuzzling the white she-cat. "What I said as I was dying... is true. It's okay if you don't feel the same way back to me. I know you loved him. I am sure you can tell Fawnstep what warrior names you wished to give your kits." She sighed. "I have a feeling that there will one day again be a Snowstar leading Riverclan.
I mean it was Snowflower who brought the others here, and she who killed that horrible cat. It would only be right for Wolfshade to make her deputy."

Snowstar smiled,
"Please it's Snowstar." She meowed softly nuzzling the she-cat back.
"I love you as a sister, Dawnfrost. A sister that I never had." She smiled looking back down at the white she-cat that now covered the small glittering pool. Shaking her head she lowered her head,
"Wolfshade would pick out great names; it's not for me to choose now and besides Fawnstep hates me for what I did.” She murmured looking at the glistering pool with the she-cat once more,
“She would be the best Snowstar that Riverclan ever had.” She meowed looking up at Dawnfrost.
“Don’t you agree?”[/center][/sup]

Dawnfrost looked at her.
"Snowstar... you are the greatest cat I've ever know. And I love you." She said, purring softly.
"As much more than a sister." She sighed an changed the subject.
"I fear about the Medcine cat apprentice of Shadowclan. She watched as the cat fed some death berries to "help" an injured rogue, then cursing the cat to the Dark Forest.

"It will be a dark day for the whole forest when she becomes medicine cat of Shadowclan, and Crystalmoon will never listen to us." she bowed her head and sighed.
"But Snowflower will make a good and strong deputy. Even if her apprentice never lived past his ceremony, it wasn't her fault an owl took the poor scrap of a cat."

Snowstar smiled warmly at the she-cat and looked down at her paws, she didn’t want to hurt the she-cat anymore and she was glad that Dawnfrost had changed the subject. Snowstar shifted her gaze at the pool to see a small she-cat carrying death berries around with her. She kneeled down toward a rouge and fed him death berries, the tom shook violently for a little bit then went limp. Shaking her head she knew something would go bad for Shadowclan and the whole forest, but then again the tiny she-cat might change. Dipping her paw into the pool once more it showed the strong white she-cat, her head was held high and had proven herself to be a deputy and leader.
“Something is going to happen along the line in her life she would get questioned about her position.” She murmured standing up on all fours and turned away from the pool, dipping her head in good bye to the ginger she-cat she took a few steps forward and disappeared.</sup>

Thyemleaf appeared just as Snowstar had left, she was saddened by Riverclan's loss, but what hurt her more was that her only daughter had joined Starclan all too soon. Blinking, her gaze took in the strong warrior before her, and only tears filled her eyes. I wanted to watch you grow strong, go far to protect your clan, I just wan- She stopped. Perhaps it was better this way she was finally reunited with her kit.

Suddenly something from inside seemed to burst, like a small part of her heart being shredded. The same feeling had occurred when Dawnfrost had made her way to Starclan. Firestep! Racing to the pool, she didn't bother to greet her daughter, she was in a rush, Was Firestep dead as well?

"Oh Dawnfrost." she murmured, the tears choking her words, "I didn't wish for my children to die so young." she whimpered, her bright orange gaze glistened with agony. Through all of her pain the only thing the young mother could do was bury her head into her daughter's shoulder like the weakling she's always been.</sup>

"Don't cry mother." She said, purring gently. "The others still live, and Firestep's mate is deputy of Riverclan." She purred softly, nuzzling the other she-cat.
"I'm here for you mama, don't cry, please. you'll make me cry. And I don't like crying."

Watching after you young at heart

The small brown tabby she-cat slowly appeared but didn't move from her spot. She watched Thymeleaf and Dawnfrost, almost with wonder and awe. After all this time of being apart they were still a family. She let out a silent sigh and closed her eyes. She knew her 'mate' had ended up in the Forest of Shadows. She opened them again and looked at the mother and daughter. She had a slight smiled on her face.
Everything will get better. she promised in her head.
