Wrong side of the....border {Blazingpaw}

The calico she-cat walked along quietly, her ears tilting occasionally from side to side, but not really listening for anything in particular. She just wanted to talk. Only a few moons prior had she become a warrior, Speckledfang. She smirked some. The last part fit rather well. She had a bite to her words and the fighting skill to match it. She would definitely make a proud Riverclan warrior.

However, as proud as she was, there was still something tugging at her deep withing her heart. There had been so many cats missing that she had always pictures would be there. Her mom, Ravenpaw, Lionstrike....they had all helped her grow so much...and they were all gone. As she walked she dug her claws into the ground slightly in frustration. They should have been more careful. If they had been....

She let out a sigh and hung her head a little before lifting it and looking up at the stars above.
"I really miss you," she murmured. She sat down and watched the stars for a long moment. Out here they looked much different than what she remembered. They were brighter, but even then little bushes blocked out some of them creating a dark shadow across sections of the sky.

Speckledfang froze her eyes slightly widening. They didn't have plants like this in Riverclan. Standing up quickly she swore. She was in Shadowclan! How had she gotten all the way here?! She looked around quickly and started back the way she had come but stopped as a pair of eyes slowly stalked towards her.
"Fox-dung," she muttered waiting for the cat to come out. Now she was in trouble. However she was surprised to see the cat come out and smirked some, but never let down her guard.
Blazingpaw....it's been a long time," she said curtly, as if she was doing nothing wrong.

The undergrowth shivered as a massive tom pushed his way through the brush. With every seamless stride, his muscles pulsed beneath his pelt. The tom paused for second, his ears trained on a distant sound behind him before continuing through the peaty, sticky earth. Circles of light flickered in and out of his fur as he prowled under the spotted, bean-pole trees. He picked his way carefully, his brows kneaded together in placid concentration. He needed to get out of camp. Not because he was bothered, or particularly upset, but rather because he needed the fresh air. The camp got musty after a while - Blazingpaw curled his lip at the thought. He could picture his denmates - their limp, lounging carcasses littering the dusty camp floor. It was pitiful how unmotivated they've become. There was a laziness in the air, something that churned Blazingpaw's stomach into a mess of vomit and bile. It was as if Shadowclan was waiting for something. The tom paused, drawing his paw mid-air before continuing. What they were waiting for, he couldn't tell.

With a half-assed grunt the apprentice opened his mouth drawing in the familiar forest scents. He might as well try to catch something - no one else was making any effort. However, the scent of prey was absent. Even the frogs were hiding. Instead the wicked scent of decay coiled his tongue. Scrunching in disgust the tom almost turned away before the faint smell of something else hit the back of his throat. Drawing to a halt, the tom opened his mouth once more and inhaled deeply, and there it was - Riverclan. Blazingpaw narrowed his eyes, "and what do we have here..." he meowed quietly under his breath. A nasty smile curled the points of his cheeks - what he needed was a fight - something to boil his blood. Blazingpaw wanted to feel his muscles scream, his joints pop, his claws curl - and with a snort the tom took off - pursuit hot on his mind.

It was pretty easy to track the scent. Obviously the owner wasn't too concerned about being caught. In under a few minutes Blazingpaw had already found his victim - a spotted, multi-colored she-cat, deep in thought. She picked through the marsh clumsily slipping in and out of potholes, her paws absent-mindlessly crushing the plants beneath her. She wasn't paying attention. The apprentice lurked behind her, watching her for awhile, his body veiled by a long-casting shadow. He was trying to remember who she was. She seemed familiar, a face he's seen before, and then he remembered. It was that Riverclan apprentice, the snotty one, Speckledpaw. The tom closed his eyes in disappointment. He had been hoping for a challenge, not this prissy kitty-pet, princess. A long sigh escaped his mouth and then he reopened his eyes - this would have to do.

Rolling his shoulders the tom circled her. He was at a far enough distance that her stupid, mindless self couldn't detect him, but he was close enough that he could see her every move. And then he approached. At first it was just his eyes piercing through the shadows, and then he heard her exclaim, Fox-dung, and then he was entirely before her. He could see the surprise flickering in her gaze, but there was something else? Fear? he hoped. Smiling he watched the wheels turn in her head before she meowed curtly, Blazingpaw....it's been a long time. The tom smiled slightly, "It has."

And then he attacked.

The tom threw himself at her. Usually it was custom to demand them to leave. And then if they refused, you were allowed to use your claws, but Blazingpaw was far from practicing any customs. He threw himself at her with a surprising amount of force. The impact immediately knocked the she-cat onto her back. Before she could escape Blazingpaw pushed himself on top of her, his paws pressing down into her shoulders, pushing her into the hot, sticky earth, "So tell me, Speckledpaw, why are you here?" He whispered, his breath hot against her neck, "Did you not realize that this was Shadowclan territory?"

Speckledfang was expecting the general "leave and never come back!" hiss that normally came with an intrusion. And she was going to do just that, but what she didn't expect was the tom to attack full on. Of course he caught her off guard and was able to pin her down with ease. She growled at him as he spoke into her neck.

"One, it's Speckledfang to you, you mouse-brained flea bitten piece of bile," she hissed kicking him off hard with her back legs. He didn't go far but enough for her to get up and stand, her fur fluffed out angrily. "Two it's against the warrior code to attack before giving someone a chance to leave. I didn't realize I was here til you showed up. My mistake. But it's no wonder your still an apprentice if you can't even follow those simple rules."

She knew she was pushing the tom's buttons but right now she didn't care. If he wanted a fight she wasn't going to back down. Yes she had trespassed, by accident, but it didn't seem like Blazingpaw really cared. She looked him over as they shifted around each other. He wasn't thin, but she could tell he wasn't eating that well. Riverclan had noticed a slight reduction in food but they had fish. Apparently the other clans were suffering much worse. No wonder he was on edge so much.

"So...I'm guessing you're just not going to let me walk away?" she asked unsheathing her claws in preparation. She would fight if she had to. and then she would tell her leader exactly what happened. It might start arguments, but she knew this was wrong. It would help her case if Blazingpaw left a few scratches.

The she-cat immediately kicked him in the gut. Blazingpaw found himself toppling over, his body sliding frantically to the left - with a staggered grunt he quickly shifted all of his weight onto the opposing side, and found himself heaving on all fours. The tom glared at her, his eyes narrowed into tiny slits. "One, it's Speckledfang to you, you mouse-brained flea bitten piece of bile," The apprentice angrily spat onto the ground, the taste of blood fresh on his tongue, "Is Riverclan that desperate." he growled, "that they would make just anyone a warrior?" There was a deep scathing jealousy embedded in his tone.

It was infuriating. Blazingpaw was nearly sixteen moons and he was still an apprentice. Every other clan seemed to be moving at such a faster pace. He was getting sick and tired of watching each and every one of his rivals surpass him. He wasn't sure if Stormstar was just that unimpressed with him or if there was some other underlying factor, but it was beginning to boil his blood. With a snort he dug his claws deep within the earth, "What did you do? Bribe Finchstar with a load of fish?" Blazingpaw inched forward, "It doesn't surprise me. Everyone else is starving to death and here's Riverclan still fat and happy." He was standing directly above her now, his eyes a flickering flame. The tom exhaled deeply, his stingy, mangy breath hot in her face, and then he snarled, baring his teeth.

"Two it's against the warrior code to attack before giving someone a chance to leave. I didn't realize I was here til you showed up. My mistake. But it's no wonder your still an apprentice if you can't even follow those simple rules." The tom snapped - his teeth mashing into one another, "Do you want me to rip you to shreds?" He breathed. The tom was trembling now, his muscles aching to pounce. But he wouldn't move. He wanted to make her beg for it. He wanted her to just utter the magic words and he'd claws to her pieces. Blazingpaw was beyond angry - he was completely and utterly shaking with rage.

Nose to nose he locked eyes with the she-cat and he could see the hot embers in her gaze. She was just as heated as he was. Fortunately he had brute strength on his side. Blazingpaw was vicious - completely unhinged. He wouldn't think twice about snapping her neck between his jaws. The tom narrowed his eyes, he wondered if she had the audacity to kill him in cold blood. Blazingpaw doubted it. She was too week. But perhaps he was too week as well - "So...I'm guessing you're just not going to let me walk away?" The tom responded with an aggressive howl, "No." and then he lunged, his jaws aiming for her throat.

Speckledfang growled when the apprentice said no and lunged forward, aiming strictly for her neck. She quickly dodged to the side staying light on her paws. She watched him, her ears laying back. Blazingpaw was really meaning to kill her. What had she done that was so bad? Was he really just that upset about not being a warrior already? If he was, could he not see why? He was nearly breaking every code possible.

Speckledfang hissed to herself. Now was not the time to be contemplating why. He was trying to kill her and as of right now, he was blocking her way to get back to her clan and her camp. She coiled her muscled trying to analyze the situation. He was bigger than her, undoubtedly stronger. However she had speed on her side. If she could just catch him off guard enough she could probably make a mad dash for the camp. That was the only option she had at the moment. She wasn't about to kill in cold blood.

As the tom crept forward Speckledfang snarled and lashed out at him bringing her claws hard across his muzzle. That just made him madder. She felt him tackle her, not reading his movements fast enough and she grunted with the weight on her side. She smacked her paw against his head, catching the tip of his ear but never really breaking skin. His teeth snapped close to her own ear and she flinched trying to get away.

She pummeled his stomach with her back paws but she could never get enough strength to really kick him off. She snarled and scratched where she could, but her breath was coming in short with his weight on her. She pulled her lip back though fear crept into her eyes. He was really going to kill her. She growled again then did the one thing she never thought she would ever do.

"SOMEONE! HELP!"
