The long fur she-cat shivered and slowly opened her eyes kind of looking around. No rat could be seen. Good, it had only been a dream. Hearing a noise near by she lifted her head and looked at the dozing tom and shook her head. Badgerfleet seemed to always be sleeping if she, Silverstorm, wasn't talking to him. And even then sometimes he fell asleep on her.
She quietly stood and stretched some and looked around and sat down in her nest licking her paw. She slowly started cleaning her fur and growled some when she came across some knots. She shouldn't have any if the stupid apprentices had done their jobs. They were just too busy wanting to get done so they go cause trouble. She glanced at her den mate.
She didn't want to wake him right now. She moved and poked her head out of the camp. She didn't see Thistlespot or any warrior or apprentice she trusted to get the knots out that wouldn't pull her fur out. She growled some. The clan was never helpful to elders like her. That was different than when she grew up. They as apprentices were made to help the elders first. Not hunt or train. This clan needed to get their priorities figured out.
She slowly slid back inside and over to Badgerfleet. She hesitated a bit then prodded his shoulder with her paw. He mumbled something so she did it again.
"Badger-lump," she mewed continuing prodding him, "Those stupid apprentices left knots in my fur. And you need to get up before Thistlespot comes in and scolds you for sleeping too much again. I for one am not in the mood to hear complaining."
She stopped in her prodding as the tom shifted and moved like he was getting up and then just curled back up again. She glared at him some. She knew he was awake now. he was just being his normal goofy self. She snorted some and sat down, flicking her tail back and forth. She waited but the tom never moved.
"I'll tell her you slept through our walk time again if you don't get up," she mewed casually, wrapping her tail around her paws. They always went walking around sun high, to stretch their legs, get some air and keep themselves as limber as they could in case of any danger. Thistlespot had scolded Badgerfleet so long the last time he skipped out that he even got grumpy, which was almost impossible for the tom. She waited knowing that would get him up.
