ORCHID
pictures; xxx
Age: 21 moons
Gender: She-cat
Rank: Kittypet
Clan: Kittypet
Short Description: A lanky, red-brown and white she-cat with tainted amber eyes
Appearance:
As with any pure-breed cat, Orchid carries the traits of her breed proudly. Her body is built thin and lanky with long legs and small paws. Her chest is narrow and shallow and her shoulders are certainly not broad by any sense of the word. Her Triangular head supports a sharply slanting forehead and muzzle that ends in a pinkish-brown nose. The large, round eyes that sit within the facets of her skull are a muddy, tainted amber-green color and each large ear is the size of her entire face. This gives her a look of constant awareness even if she really doesn't watch her surroundings too much.
A silky, short-haired pelt is stretched over a lightly muscled body. The majority of her pelt is a medium red-brown color that encases her tail and both hind legs, leaving a white crack-like marking on her right hind leg. There is one brown spot to the right of her nose on a mostly white face. The left half of her chin and jaw only up to the cheek-bone are brown and can only be seen from below or if she lifts her head. Speaking of her face, Orchid's white markings start as a diamond on her forehead, turns into a thin blaze that goes to her tear ducts and then takes up the rest of her face, the underside of her throat, her chest, underbelly, forelegs up to the shoulder, and hind paws up to the ankles. There is a small streak of white that follows her spine, begins behind her shoulders and ends just before her hips. It is only visible from above or behind.
Personality:
Proper:Often described as Prim and pampered, Orchid is a stickler for manners and propriety. She behaves as she believes a "lady" should and often refuses to get her paws dirty. Hard work is not her thing, and being kind and accepting of all cats is a moral that she follows strongly. Even without a warrior code, Orchid believes that to be rude, disrespectful, or plainly uncouth makes a cat hardly worth talking to. It is not, in her mind, wrong or rude to be proud of one's achievements as long as a cat isn't rubbing it in or acting jealously.
Caring:Orchid, as prim and proper as she is, will leap to the defense of any cat whom she believes needs it. Kits and elders are most often the objects of her caring, somewhat motherly, affections. Her actions are sometimes overbearing and can be seen as completely annoying if a cat doesn't like being coddled. As such, Orchid is more than happy to share her abode with rescued animals of all sorts, even the occasional dogs or rodents that may appear on her doorstep. Her haughty nature can sometimes be off-putting but she is truly a kind and friendly cat to be around once you get to know her better.
Independent:Even though she doesn't like getting her paws in the dirt, orchid is perfectly capable of protecting herself. She may not be independent in the way that a loner or clan-cat might think, but this she-cat has all the freedom she needs and has "trained" her house-folk well. Often seen demanding that a new animal or human explain themselves or feed her, Orchid is by no means a slave to the humans who live in her house and serve her faithfully. Of course, living with all of the different animals has taught her ways of communicating with them, even if no cat will ever speak dog. This means that she understands how to chase away a dog or cat she doesn't like and has many friends to call if there's a fox in her yard.
History:
Kithood:Born in a large litter of 6 to her mother, Allium. Her father, Adonis, was not in the picture as the pair was selected for breeding by their house-folk and did not become mates. Orchid's large litter was made of three sisters, and two brothers besides herself. While she was young, Orchid had the life of any kittypet kit. She played and grew, and once she no longer suckled from her mother, they were separated. Not yet given away, Orchid and her siblings were tested, trained, and watched until they turned six moons old. Orchid and her brother, Campsis, were kept as show cats and were trained and groomed from then on. While sad to see her other four siblings go away, Orchid knew they'd be happy and healthy.
Adulthood:Orchid has won or placed in ten shows since her being chosen and shares many of her victories with her brother, to whom she is very close. During this time, Orchid has become more "refined" and aristocratic due to the way she is treated by her house-folk. Orchid's living with rescue animals began when she dragged a lonely, starving puppy which was half-dead. She helped her house-folk raise the little creature until it became too big to be raised by a cat. Since then, she has assisted, dragged, and called any cat, dog, or rodent that needs help and her loving house-folk have simply gone along with it. Living inside of her nest, Orchid knows and sees very little of the world beyond her fence. To her, the wild forest cats are simply a myth that she doesn't want to go chasing around. The regal she-cat tries to keep on good terms with all of the cats around her nest and wishes to meet any cat who she hasn't seen before.
