PETALSTORM
pictures; x x
Age: Twenty-four
Gender: She-cat
Rank: Warrior
Clan: ThunderClan
Short Description: Mostly white she-cat with a few brown stripes and light blue eyes
Appearance:
Petalstorm is a bit of a mish-mash of colours and patterns. She looks like she's a morph of more than one cat, in a way. Her main pelt colour is a soft, downy white - medium in length, silky, smooth. However, several smatterings of brown interrupt this beautiful white fur. Petalstorm has a faint brown stripe running down her back from her forehead, where there is a darker mark on her face. Her tail is the darkest part - like it came off a dark brown tabby cat. Her right foreleg elbow also has tabby markings, though they are quite faint and are a more chocolately brown than muddy brown.
Petalstorm has round blue eyes, though she does have an angry look about her because the top of her eye slopes down towards her nose. This is a deceiving thing, as she's not as angry as she looks.
Personality:
Petalstorm is a bit of a mystery. Her mood swings from happy and sweet one moment to fiery and argumentative the next. Her personality earned her warrior name - storm, coming from how unpredictable she can be at times. Petalstorm hates it, of course, but she knows she can't change who she is - even if she can become snappy at a cat she was having a fantastic conversation with moments before.
Most of the time, she is a friendly and open cat who is more likely to think things through before confrontation, as most of the time she hates it. But she can very easily swing back into snapping and cussing and generally being a horrible cat.
History:
Petalstorm likes to think she had a happy, wonderful kithood, but she didn't, not exactly. Her mother was a fickle and whimsical ThunderClan warrior called Willowsong - she had gone through a string of failed relationships with both toms and she-cats and was pretty much done with everyone until she met a RiverClan tom at a gathering - his name was Mudclaw. She was instantly enamoured and for a while, Mudclaw tempted her and then she became pregnant with his kits. When she told him, he struck her and barked that he hated her and never wanted to see her again.
Willowsong returned a different cat to camp and gave birth to two kits - a son and a daughter. She didn't name them and disappeared from camp that night, her body later discovered by a RiverClan patrol, drowned and floating in the river. The kits were taken in by another queen who had only one kit. She was called Juniperberry, and her only kit, a son, was called Lionkit. Juniperberry named the two kits Petalkit and Tigerkit, and declared to the clan these kits were to be raised as her own, and not told of their mother or her death. Juniperberry's mate, Goldtail, was a little wary of the kits at first - everyone knew of Willowsong's affair with Mudclaw as it had been him and a patrol who had taken her body to ThunderClan camp, Mudclaw who had confessed it was inadvertently his fault the she-cat had taken her own life, but that he did not wish to see his kits.
So Petalkit and Tigerkit grew up with Lionkit, believing him to be their brother and Juniperberry and Goldtail to be their parents. Nobody ever dared tell them the truth, else face Juniperberry's wrath, and given that Willowsong had no living relatives left, no cat could claim them as their own besides Mudclaw. All of Juniperberry and Goldtail's families adored the kits as if they were related by blood, and the kits couldn't be happier. Juniperberry knew they would never have been this happy even if Willowsong had lived, and vowed to adore her kits until the day she died.
Petalkit, Tigerkit and Lionkit had a typical sibling rivalry - racing, play fighting, play hunting - any kind of game they'd want to win. Petalkit was bossy but sometimes very frightened of her brothers, and would run and hide underneath Juniperberry's leg if the toms got too rough - though occasionally when she was feeling brave she'd barrel right into them and show them who actually was the boss.
Petalkit didn't want to leave Juniperberry or the nursery when time came to become an apprentice, but her brothers were incredibly eager. Not wanting to be one-upped by them, when their apprentice ceremony came, she jostled to the front proudly, wanting to be the centre of attention. Petalpaw's mentor was an old and slightly deaf tom called Dusknose. Petalpaw thought he should be in the elder's den already, but he was a stubborn old fart who wanted to be a warrior for as long as he lived, even if his hearing wasn't as good as it was.
Though old, Dusknose was a great mentor even if Petalpaw had to raise her voice around him. She came to admire the old ragged tom like a grandfather, even if the two of them did occasionally lock horns and argue about his deafness. Petalpaw wanted Dusknose to be her mentor til she was a warrior, but he became quite sick with greencough and was ordered to retire by the medicine cat. Petalpaw was distraught at the news, and almost refused to work with her new mentor, a shy and forgiving she-cat called Spiderface.
Even though she wasn't fond of Spiderface at first, Petalpaw got on with the quiet she-cat, eventually liking her almost as much as Dusknose. She was fourteen moons old when she became a warrior; Petalstorm, for her stormy and quite unpredictable personality. Her brothers, Lionpaw and Tigerpaw, became Lionfoot and Tigerwhisker respectively.
The sibling rivalry continued and they often went on patrols together. In their sixteenth moon, the three of them were on patrol on the RiverClan border when a RiverClan tom was spotted crossing the river. Tigerwhisker and Lionfoot raced forward, Petalstorm lagging behind a bit. There was something about the tom that seemed scarily familiar. When confronted by the three young warriors, the tom simply stated he wanted to see his kits, the kits of Willowsong. When the young warriors said there were no kits of Willowsong in ThunderClan, he laughed and called them liars. Then it clicked for Petalstorm; Tigerwhisker and this tom looked almost identical. There was a reason she and Tigerwhisker looked nothing like their parents - they weren't their parents, and this cat was their father.
Petalstorm ordered the tom to leave, and he said he knew she was Willowsong's kit - she was almost identical to her mother. When Petalstorm flatly stated her mother was Juniperberry, the tom laughed again and told them to ask her about Mudclaw. The siblings returned home and asked their mother and Juniperberry explained everything to Tigerwhisker and Petalstorm, but said their mother had not wanted them and left them alone so Juniperberry raised them as their own. Whilst Petalstorm didn't care who her real mother was, she knew Juniperberry was her true mother because she had raised her, Tigerwhisker went to RiverClan, to join Mudclaw. He had always been fickle, always whined about how he never fit into the family, so he just left without a word, just as their mother had.
Petalstorm reassumed life in ThunderClan, not missing Tigerwhisker. As far as she was concerned, she was the daughter of Juniperberry and Goldtail, and no one could tell her otherwise.
