Ginger-root

Had Fawnstep been chosen to also attend the Gathering, Ginger-root imagined she would have been trotting at her sister's side since RiverClan left their camp. But alas, the ginger she-cat was denied this privilege, as Fawnstep was not among the list of selected warriors.
This had somewhat dampened her spirits. Their recent talk was beginning to draw the siblings together again, thawing both of their hearts, which had grown cold since their mother's death and their long emotional separation. This past quarter moon, since that fateful first conversation in a long while, it almost seemed as if Ginger-root had spent more time with Fawnstep than she had during their entire time in the nursery as kits. There were still awkward moments and weird silences, of course, but the two cats -- at least in Ginger-root's mind -- seemed far more comfortable in each other's presence. They shared fresh-kill and shared tongues, sorting through their past and attempting to forge a new closely-bonded future. The thought brought a faint smile across her muzzle. Silentpool would have wanted it to be so.
Nevertheless, Ginger-root held her head as high as she could as RiverClan approached Fourtrees. Even without Fawnstep, and even though her Clan was the last to arrive at the ancient hollow, she was determined to still have a good time, shy as she was. Perhaps she would make a friend tonight? Just stay positive, she thought to herself. And we'll make it through the night. Both of us, she almost whispered aloud, thinking back to Fawnstep, still back at camp.
