Name: Birdsong
Gender: Tom
Age: 25 Moons
Clan: ThunderClan
Short Description: Red-ocher-eyed white tom
Appearance: With a pure white pelt and unusually colored, Indian red eyes, Birdsong painfully stands out as an albino during newleaf and greenleaf, but his lighter hue helps him to blend in with the snow during leaf-bare, giving him an obvious advantage over his fellow clanmates. While his fur appears short at first glance, his thick undercoat can give him a somewhat puffy appearance when startled -- and this happens more frequently than he might like, due to his long list of fears, both normal (badgers) and abnormal (hummingbirds) for a feline. His inner ears glow a soft cream in the sunlight, in such a way as to almost make his albinism debatable, but if one looks closely, it is apparent that the color is nothing more than a reflection of the blood vessels beneath his skin. The tom's nose is a bit broader than most, ending with a pair of pale pink, fleshy nostrils, which are often flared in subtly seductive manner. His whiskers are long and white, tapering in soft points. His overly frequent preening (which one could argue might be indicative of an obsessive compulsive tendencies) ensures that his pelt and face remains clean and tidy -- almost too much so, in fact.
Personality: Though Birdsong has his sarcastic moments, he is typically a well-mannered gentlecat, always remembering his "pleases" and "thank yous." Eager to make conversation with any feline he meets, this tom would talk the ears off of an elder if he had the chance, and it is difficult for him to take a hint. He can be a bit of a flirt at times, which can sometimes interfere with his duties as a warrior. Though he tries not to allow such distractions make him a hindrance to his clan, he has been reprimanded more than once for getting too "close" to his clanmates, female and male alike. While he is generally polite, most will find that Birdsong is inwardly quite selfish. He has been known to place himself before his friends -- of which he has few -- due to his many forest-related phobias, including water and birds of prey. When he stumbles into a situation where he is faced with one of his many fears, Birdsong could not be more cowardly. While he may have turned and run a number of times in the past, however, these days he is much more prone to fleeing to the back of a scouting party or scrambling up a tree until the the subject of his frightfulness can be dealt with.
History: Named after the first catch as a kit, Birdsong was mentored by Greenfoot, an old tom whose patience was quite possibly the only reason he was allowed to graduate to warrior status at all. While he proved to be a dutiful apprentice, following all instructions to the best of his abilities and hunting expertly with the rest of his group, he severely lacked the courage of his fellow students. His white pelt drew a great deal of attention to the kitten, especially during that spring of his training. On one particular outing, his bright pelt attracted the aggression of a feisty badger, whose gnashing teeth and slashing claws sent him sprinting up a tree. The incident permanently petrified him, and his fears soon grew into a lengthy list, making it difficult for the tom to venture outside of camp without encountering some sort of "monster" and having another scary phobia episode. Stories of his mishaps spread throughout the camp, and he quickly became the laughing stock of his class. He was granted his warrior title two moons after his siblings for his fearfulness, and took the oath grimly. As a warrior, Birdsong remains wary of the world outside the camp, much preferring to keep stock of the freshkill pile or assisting the clan's medicine cat in organize herbs (despite oppositions from the medicine cat apprentice). If he must leave the camp, Birdsong insists on traveling with a group of other cats, sticking to the rear of the company. Though it has taken some time, Birdsong has overcome most of his more detrimental fears, but he remains a definite oddball of ThunderClan. He spends most of his time socializing with other cats, whose patience he often stretches, rather than adventuring. Whether or not he will keep to the warrior code is any cat's guess, but nevertheless, he remains a loyal ThunderClan cat.
