Appearance:

Rosepaw is a sickly little thing, and it shows in her appearance. Because of a weak immune system she's had since birth, she gets ill as easily as breathing and doesn't eat while sick most of the time, so her ribs tend to slide more evidently under her pelt than they should. From all the rest required in her physical condition, the small feline hasn't gained the muscles her brother has; training has been sparse so she still has the build of a starving kit.

Despite looking so haggard, Rosepaw is a gorgeous girl. If she were completely healthy, her dull fur would be velvety and sleek and while she'd still be very small compared to most her age, vibrance would make her seem bigger than she actually is. Even with her honey-colored eyes sparkling because of the happiness her brother brings her, they still hold a shadow of exhaustion and sickness to them from her condition. Rosepaw is a sad sight for many, but she has hung on this long, so the medicine cat expects her immune system to catch up in her later moons of apprenticeship. As beauty runs in the family, it is expected that this little sweetheart will be quite the looker once she fully recovers into a picture of health later on.

Personality:

Rosepaw hasn't had much interaction with any cat other than her mother, Ivyfur and littermate, Sootpaw so she is quite timid. It didn't help that her own father was hostile toward her during kithood, so this tiny girl finds it difficult to speak to others without stuttering and avoiding eye contact. Hearing her father put her mother down has made her feel that since she's often told she's like her mother, that she is the same. Feeling this way has made Rosepaw self-conscious, so she constantly worries over what her Clanmates think of her--aside from Sootpaw of course.


With that naive face of hers, some would expect her to be unintelligent, ignorant to the workings of the world, but she is anything but. She knows that her brother's hallucinations and the way he throws himself into whoring around are unhealthy, so she tries to distract him herself by talking a little more while he's around and even trailing after him like a lost puppy. Having a large brother complex because Sootpaw has been her rock for so long, she always makes sure to watch him carefully for signs of hallucinations and such. Rosepaw cares more for him than herself, so she usually tries to give him her share of prey as well and often finds herself reluctant to accept her brother's romantic relationships. Those that 'go out' with Sootpaw are observed carefully by this little girl in order to see if they're good enough or not; she doesn't want her brother taking a potential mate that he'll end up hating later on.

Males terrify Rosepaw. Boulderstep left a massive scar in not only her heart, but her mind as well. When approached by any of the male persuasion other than Sootpaw, she starts to panic, breathing accelerating and heart pumping faster. It's not uncommon to see Rosepaw hide behind her brother, cower, whimper, or run away when approached by toms. It doesn't matter what age or appearance they have, all of them remind Rosepaw of Boulderstep and she goes into a terrifying state of panic that only her brother can get her out of. All of his yelling and almost-violence toward her beloved mother simply put her over the edge and put her into a state of hatred and fear of Boulderstep that could also be called paranoia. The large tom is both her enemy and worst nightmare.

While Rosepaw does have a large brother complex, she is not in love with him. Sootpaw is her hero; a father figure if you will. The black and white tom was there for her while her parents were fighting and stays by her side without fail to protect her from things she fears, so she has come to see him in the brightest, utmost light. She feels like since he shields her from the terrible, that the least she can do is distract and help him cope with his. Sootpaw has always been her rock, best friend, and light in this world, so she clings to him for love and protection.

History:

Rosekit was born to two WindClan warriors named Boulderstep and Ivyfur. They were a fairytale love story from the start and completely and recklessly in love. Boulderstep eventually wanted kits and had a hard time getting his mate to agree, but got her to crack soon enough. Once Ivyfur became pregnant, Boulderstep waited on her paw and tail, becoming extremely doting. The tom was extremely excited to finally have kits and worked his hardest to make things go smoothly.

Once the kittens were born, Boulderstep couldn't help but coo at them in the beginning, their small forms adorable even to him; in fact, he even named his daughter Rosekit for her beauty. As the children grew though, Boulderstep found himself overcome with jealousy. He hated the kits for taking all his precious mate's attention! Ivyfur and he began to fight constantly, things nearly becoming physical more than once. The kittens were terrified and became traumatized from the harsh environment.

When Boulderstep finally abandoned his family, Ivyfur returned to raising her kits lovingly and never once blamed them for her ex-mate leaving. The day of their ceremony, she was the one that cheered the loudest and has always been proud of her gorgeous kits. Ivyfur is constantly worried over Rosepaw's physical condition and fear of toms though and pleaded for Sunstar to give her a female mentor. Sunstar accepted reluctantly, thinking it best for the kit's apprenticeship to be held off, but letting her become a 'paw anyhow on the condition that she get regular check-ups from the medicine cat until stated otherwise. Rosepaw's immune system could render her from becoming a warrior, and there was no sense in over-straining her body for nothing when she could just as easily join the elders for a more peaceful life with them to look after her. The fact that Sootpaw would look after her only helped her case though and she has been an apprentice for the past two moons. Although she has gotten sick quite a bit, things only get better after they worsen.
