Lightningshine
Tom ● 40 Moons ● Thunderclan ● Warrior
Ginger tom with dull amber eyes and an abnormally long tail
A P P E A R A N C E
Lightningstrike is a very handsome tom to most she-cats. He is slim for his size but he doesn’t lack any muscles like most other toms think. His limbs are thin which makes many warriors think he will wear out before others, however, he uses this “disadvantage” as a tool to help himself out run and outsmart enemies. His size also helps him easily slip through the trees of the clan territory enabling him to be a wonderful hunter.
His fur is bright orange which is an odd fur color for a Thunderclan cat. Most see this as unhelpful when he goes to hunt since his fur does not blend into the undergrowth of the forest. On the orange are a few darker stripes but not enough to help give him any kind of camouflage. His paws, belly and throat are white as well as the tip of his long tail. His tail is not so long that it gets in the way, but it does drag the ground if he isn’t paying attention.
His eyes are a dull amber color but will quickly brighten if he’s excited by something going on or angered at another warrior for threatening his clan. His nose is a soft pink while there are a few small bits of orange around his mouth.

Playful but loyal: At heart, Lightningshine is a kit in a body that is too big for himself. He doesn’t mind having a scuffle with apprentices or kits and finds it amusing when warriors take their jobs too seriously. He never wants his warrior duties to be a dull, so he finds a way to make them almost a game. However, if there is something threatening his clan, you will see Lightningshine do anything to protect his clan members.
Confident but teachable: Lightningshine will openly say that he is good at what he does and will try to show off anything he knows he can do. He prances around bragging at times, but he knows inside he isn’t perfect. Although he knows what he is doing he doesn’t turn an open ear to teaching. He knows he still has things to learn if he wishes to become the best warrior in the clan.
Flirty but Respectful: This ginger tom is a charmer to most she-cats. He knows he has good looks and a friendly personality. He loves spending time with she-cats and giving them confidence in themselves. However, he is not so flirty to a point that he makes a she-cat uncomfortable. He respects a she-cats space and only wishes to make them feel better. If a cat tells him to back off he will with no problem.

”His fur is so bright, like lightning,”mewed the light grey tom sniffing at the small ginger kit.
”Then let’s just call him Lightningkit,” grumbled the young brown she-cat, laying her head on her paws to look at her newborn son.
”Squirrelpaw, don’t take your anger out on him please. I know you are having to put off your training but it will be worth it to see him grow,” murmured Stormfang.
Although young, no one could deny that Squirrelpaw was in love with Stormfang and he loved her right back. What they could deny was their acceptance of the matter. Squirrelpaw was Stormfang’s apprentice and it just didn’t seem right that the mentor and apprentice should be in love as they were. They didn’t care what the other warriors said. They contemplated running away. That was until Squirrelpaw became pregnant at 11 moons.
When Lightningkit was small all he really knew about his mother was that she longed to be out with his father doing her duties as a warrior. He also knew that she loved him with all her heart. He could tell when she would lick his head until he fell asleep or told him stories about the training she had received. In his eyes Squirrelpaw was already a warrior. However, Squirrelpaw never got to receive her warrior name while she was still alive. She died of green cough shortly before Lightningkit had his apprentice ceremony.
”It’s my fault,” murmured the young golden tom, digging his nose into his mother’s soft fur.
”Don’t you ever say that, Lightningkit,” mewed the aging Stormfang firmly, ”Your mother will always be with us and she would never want to see you down because of this.”
Lightningkit looked up at his dad and could see the pain that shone in his eyes over his lost mate and friend. That was bravery to him; the ability to be strong even in your biggest pain.
Lightningpaw grew quickly into his body and learned the ways of the warrior under the mentoring of Poppyear, a tom not much younger than his dad. They grew a bond similar to that of brothers. See Poppyear had lost his siblings at a young age and always enjoyed being around kits so when Lightningpaw was assigned to him it was almost a perfect match. Like normal brothers they bickered but it was never enough to tear the two apart, until Poppyear fell in love.
”She is a kitty-pet, Poppyear! She isn’t meant to be one of us!” hissed Lightningpaw angrily, glaring at his mentor and the petite she-cat behind him.
”But I love her, Lightningpaw. I know she isn’t meant for this life,” said the other tom hesitantly, ”That’s why I’m going with her.”
The young ginger tom froze in his tracks just staring at his mentor. The older tom ducked his head in apology, but turned and rubbed his head against the calico’s head. That’s when he saw it: the love in their eyes like he had seen in his mother and father’s eyes when he was a kit. Now he understood, this was what he was training to understand.
”Can you at least finish my training?” he asked softly.
”Of course, I wouldn’t want to miss your ceremony for the world.” mewed his mentor.
Poppyear held up to his agreement. He trained Lightningpaw, not only in the ways of fighting and hunting, but also of compassion for other cats. A couple moons later Lightningpaw was called to receive his warrior name: Lightingshine, for his personality shone like a hopeful light to all those around him. As he held his honorable vigil that night he saw Poppyear and his mate sneak off into the forest never to be seen again. Tempted to raise the alarm in hopes to keep his friend around, he stood and watched them leave from the edge of the camp, hoping one day he could see them again.
Moons past and Lightningshine had apprentices of his own. He trained them in the ways Poppyear had taught him as an apprentice. Some got it, others didn’t, but he never changed his ways. His father died at an old age peacefully and although he mourned his passing he knew his father missed his mother dearly. He also knew they would forever be in his heart. Now as he gets older he wishes to find a family of his own, and hopefully be the parent that his parents were to him, and the mentor that Poppyear was as well.
