Dapplekit
Dapplekit slowly opened her eyes and let out a large yawn. She had been sleeping well the last few night in the nursery den. She had a nest of her own but she knew Otterfoot was close by if she really needed her. And she had seen Sevenkit and Ratkit around, but she wasn't to sure if she wanted to play with them yet. they were bigger and she still liked to wander around. Speaking of that....
The small spotted she-cat got up and stretched before scampering out of the nursery into the thunderclan camp. She looked around and perked her ears smiling. This was her new home, and she was glad she finally had one. But what she wanted to know what went on outside the camp. Yeah she had been in the forest before. But that was just one part. Today was the day.
She started across the camp and watched as a ginger cat ran out followed by a smaller black cat. She smiled and headed that way but was distracted as a bug flew in front of her. She stopped and watched it as it landed on her nose. She wiggled her nose the batted at it as it flew away. She ran following it and watched as it landed on a rock. She slowly slunk forward and stopped behind it flicking her tail. She pounced and lifted her paw but it was gone. She looked up and watched as it flew away. She tilted her head and sighed.
She turned her attention back to the entrance before looking around. She didn't see Rainflight nor Owltalon. Maybe she could get away without being seen. She had only one chance. So she took it.
Dapplekit darted for the entrance and had almost made it when she felt a tug on her neck fur and felt herself being lifted off the ground. She hung there limply before looking up and grinning at Owltalon.
"Hi daddy..."

Dude this was my favorite movie when I was a kid. It was epic.

OWLTALON
I fight for what I believe in.

There was this gap lengthening between him and Rainflight. Everyday it grew bigger and bigger. He tried to talk; to reason with her. But only cold retorts echoed his sorrow. What went wrong? He remembered life before his children; they were young and free. He was Owlpaw, she was Rainkit. Now he was deputy and she was a warrior. Everything changed; yet as he watched her slender form pad around camp it was the same. He still loved her; she was his everything. Owltalon squeezed his eyes shut trying to will his injuries away, but they still dwindled. Clinging to his heart, fearing to let go. What if I let this slip past? Will their relationship ever heal?

A disgruntled sigh broke past his lips. He needed some sleep. Owltalon laid sprawled out under an overhang. The tom was tired from the Dawn Patrol; not to mention the heavy weight of his deputy-ship pressing down on his shoulders. Already had he planned each separate patrol for hunting and border marking. He also had to plan when certain mentors could bring out their apprentices; the time; the place; and why. Reporting to the leader; and just watching over the camp; it was just too much. Was he really destined to become leader? "Swiftstar must be mistaken, I'm not fit for such a job." he meowed quietly.

Another sigh escaped his lungs; suddenly a flash of spotted fur caught his eye. A tiny smile curled at the edge of his lips. This kit was the only source of happiness he had left. Rainflight refused to talk to him, while his older kits avoided him at all costs. Enlightened by her presence he watched as Dapplekit pranced around camp, if only I could be so young and carefree again. A chuckle bubbled from his throat; he tried to hide it, but a grin spread across his features. This kit, she made him feel important again.

Her attention seemed to have been drawn elsewhere for her frolicking had ceased. Owltalon narrowed his eyes, trying to see what this she-kit was up to. Raising his brows he brought himself into a crouch, slowly he crept forward; slithering out from under the overhang. Upon his paws he followed silently behind her; curious to where she was heading. Suddenly she sprung forward, but Owltalon was faster. Grinning he snatched the scruff of her neck and hoisted her up in the air. Speaking through kitten-soft fur he purred,

"And where do you think your going?"

Dapplekit
Dapplekit wiggled a little trying to get down and batted her paw trying to bat at the bigger tom's nose but it was no use. The cat she called daddy was bigger than her and stronger and there was no way she was getting down unless Owltalon let her down. She huffed and hung there.
"i wanted to see what was outside the camp."

[/color] she said looking up. "But i want to play. Will you play with me?"[/color]
She felt herself being lowered and when she felt her paws safely on the ground the turned and looked up at Owltalon crouching down playfully. Owltalon rarely turned down her request to play. Rainflight however told her she needed to behave. She was behaving. She just wanted to play. What was wrong with playing?
When she saw owltalon laugh at her and grinned then ran at him and jumped up on his side and crawled onto his back. She made sure she had her balance then crawled up his back and put her paws on the top of his head. She slowly looked around smiling.
"you're really tall."[/color] she mewed as she kept looking at everyone with her new point of view. Right now she was glad she was small. She loved doing this. She looked down at Owltalon. She was glad he took care of her.[/center]

OWLTALON

"You know kits aren't allowed outside of camp until their apprentices." he meowed gruffly. Setting the little kit down he meowed sternly once more, "Especially when there's two-leg monsters roaming around out there. So you got to promise me something." Owltalon leaned in closely, "Promise me you won't leave camp until your an apprentice?" Furrowing his brows he made sure his order was clear. If something ever happened to Dapplekit Owltalon knew it'd be his fault. And he couldn't possibly live with that draping over his shoulders; plus he couldn't bare not to see her smile. Or to hear those vibrant meows of her calling him, 'Daddy'.

Play? It has been moons since the tom has actually played? There were only memories of his tussling around with Rainflight when they were younger. But that was ages ago. He was the deputy, was it really fine for him to play. But before he could argue anymore he felt his body lower into a crouch. As if he really had no choice. The concept of shrugging away those duties seemed just too appetizing.

Raising his brows he waited expertly swiped a sheathed paw at her left flank. The kit easily dodged it. Grinning he quite didn't expect what she managed to do next. In a few seconds Dapplekit was racing up the side of his back. "What are you doing?" he questioned. Curious to her actions he awaited something diabolical to unfold but instead she sat poised on his head.

She was a strange little kit.

Even when his own two daughters were little they weren't really into playing with their parents. Instead they kept to their own quarrels and what not. Even when they did play they were a little rough. Kestrelpaw nearly ripped his ear off one time. A snort of laughter escaped his mouth as he thought of the pair. They were his children and he loved them. And even if Dapplekit wasn't his biological daughter, he loved her as well.

"Now are you going to get off my head? Or do you want me to shake you off!

Dapplekit
Dapplekit grinned and looked down at the tabby tom. She was glad he was willing to play with her. most of the other warriors were busy and didn't want anything to do with her. she hadn't really gotten to know the other kits yet and none of the apprentices had time to play. She didn't really understand why everyone was always working. Didn't they ever stop to have fun?
At Owltalon's words, she grinned and put all four feet on his head then sprang off. She giggled as she flew through the air a short distance and landed on the ground. She only staggered a little but quickly got her balance. She grinned and looked at Owltalon.
"That was fun..."

[/color] she mewed flicking her tail excitedly. She then proceeded to crouch down and stalk towards Owltalon's tail. She was totally doing it wrong. Her tail was flicking wildly and her rump was too far up in the air. Had she actually been trying to hunt, she would have failed miserably. However all she was focused on was getting her dad's tail.
With a battle cry yowl she launched herself and just landed short of his tail but then rolled over and batted at it. It was really fluffy and bushy. It was also very fun to play with. She kept batting at it, giggling as owltalon lowered it to tickle her chin. Yep this was the life. The perfect life.[/center]

OWLTALON

Owltalon watched in amusement as the she-cat jumped nimbly from the crown of his head. Although her landing wasn't perfect; it still guaranteed a chuckle. Raising an eyebrow he watched curiously as she slumbered ungracefully toward his thick, feathery tail. It took the tom merely a second to catch wind of her 'secret' plan. Taking his front paw he lightly pushed her rump down, and then stopped her lashing tail. "Your not going to catch anything with that posture." His words fell upon empty ears; for she was already soaring through the air.

Lacking the experience an older kit would have she landed a bit short. Being the nice guy he was Owltalon shifted his a tail a few inches over so when she rolled onto her stomach she could easily bat at it. Amused he flicked his tail up and down; while at the same time pretending not to notice her actions. To make the situation a tad bit more fun, he eased his tail up. Sliding over her belly, he managed to tickle the underside of her chin. Within seconds her giggly laugh ringed playfully against his ears.

Grinning he continued; until he was sure she couldn't handle it anymore. Scrunching his brows together he fixed his leisurely compose and replaced it with a sneer. "Stop this play." he growled, raising a brow he crouched down to her level, "We are warriors, we go on missions. We don't waste the day playing."

Straightening up he fixed her a stern glance, "Ready for your first mission warrior Dapplefoot?" Her warrior name was spur of the moment, nothing he had thought hard about. Just something out of the blue. Lifting his chin he motioned her closer, when she was practically on top of his paws, only then did he whisper quietly, "Mission, make Rainflight smile." Flicking his tail he meowed urgently, "She's a on a hunting patrol at noon-high, so we must get to her before then." Narrowing his eyes he growled,

"Think you can handle it Dapplefoot?"

Dapplekit
Dapplekit fell into a fit of laughter as Owltalon started tickling her more and more. Soon she was to a point she couldn't breath. Why wouldn't he stop? She really didn't mind but she wanted to breath! All of a sudden he stopped and looked at her. No...he was glaring at her. What had she done?

"Stop this play. We are warriors, we go on missions. We don't waste the day playing."

Dapplekit quickly rolled over but stayed crouched as Owltalon started growling at her. What was he so mad about? He had agreed to play. He had started tickling her first. What was so wrong about wanting to play?

"Ready for your first mission warrior Dapplefoot?"

Dapplefoot? Who in the world was dapplefoot? She slowly looked behind her and tried to see if there was a cat behind her. But there was no one in sight. When she looked back at owltalon she noticed he was looking at her. Why was he...she blinked and tilts her head then grinned a little. She was Dapplefoot. But she didn't understand. She still had to train. How could she go from a kit to a warrior?

"Mission, make Rainflight smile."

Oh now she understood. He was still playing. Alright. this must have been a game he played with his other two daughters. They must have really liked it.
Alright, she had to make Rainflight smile. This should be easy. She's a on a hunting patrol at noon-high, so we must get to her before then
okay maybe it was going to be harder than she though. When Owltalon asked if she could handle it, she tilts her head the sat up as tall as she could. Her chest stuck out and her tail quit moving. She was ready.
"i can do it."

"Good." he breathed quietly. Fixating his gaze on the warrior's den he meowed quietly, "If my suspicions are correct she should be dozing in the warrior's den." Flicking his tail he motioned towards the bramble encased sleeping quarters. Crouching down low he slithered expertly across the camp's floor. It wasn't usual for the deputy to be messing around like this; but he deserved it...didn't he? Owltalon had been working since dawn, ordering around patrols, watching the camp. His duties were performed everyday, and each day he went on without any sort of play. Eyes narrowed he scampered from rock to rock; watching with amusement as Dappelkit stumbled beside him. She'll need a lot of work before she become an actual warrior.

They were nearing the warrior's den. Only a few more fox-lengths forward and they would be inside the shadowy enclosure. Turning to his accomplice he whispered quietly, "Now I want you to scamper into the den as if everything's normal." Raising his brows he made sure she knew the seriousness of this mission. It had been a while since he had seen Rainflight's charming smile. And he missed it; craved it.

"Once inside, ask her to come outside." Narrowing his eyes he continued, "If she refused make up an excuse, it has to be good." This was where the hard part came in. He actually had no idea what to do, he was going to wing it. But he managed to make her lift a grin, then well--he had hope. "After she comes out, I'll do the rest."

A small smile occupied his face, licking the top of Dapplekit's head he meowed urgently, "Now go!"

Dapplekit
Dapplekit nodded and raced up to the entrance of the Thunderclan Warriors den. She stopped and peeked her head around the edge of the entrance and quickly withdrew it and crouched as a warrior exited. She waited till they were gone before slipping in the cooler space.
There were warriors everywhere. She swallowed and looked around for Rainflight. Man they had a bunch of lazy warriors. True there only had to be about 4 in there...but that was a big number for her. she slowly padded around one cat and stopped perking her ears. Soon she found rainflight and grinned walking over to her.
"Rainflight?"

[/color] she mewed and gently pawed her shoulder. She couldn't mess this up. Her mission was to make Rainflight smile. And she was gonna do it.
"Mama...i need you to come outside..."[/color] she mewed as the older she-cat opened her eyes. This was it![/center]

<sup>Rainflight stopped.

The black warrior pricked her ears, her senses high on alert. The scent filled the air, wafting toward her, luring her in. It was unusually tense. Her opponent was unsuspecting its fate. It was unaware, its direction away from her position. Its eyes flickered absently, as if nothing bad was going to happen. Rainflight crouched, preparing for the pounce. Aim for its back...

"Wha!?"

A disturbance awoke her from her dream, her ambition to capture the unaware mouse never to be accomplished. Dazed from the sudden arrival to the real world, she adjusted her eyes to the den she was laying in. She wasn't alone. A kit caught her attention, requesting her to exit her nest. Why would this kit want her? She had nothing to offer. But when she finally fully awakened she processed Dapplekit's image.

This kit was a painful reminder of her new but old rank as a queen, restricted to the nursery and queen duties once more. But, she couldn't help but feel that old sparkle, that old pride of being called "mom" again. Sighing, she mumbled drowsily, "Alright, alright I'm coming," then followed her daughter out of the dim den. "Now, what is it?"</sup>
