Glistening dots decorated the moonless night, the warm green-leaf air welcomed the she-cat as she padded into the open expanse of land. Trees dotted the horizon, a stream gurgled in the distance, the wind whispered through the heather. Welcome. She's here. Hope has come. Our savior is present. Words from unknown owners echoed through out the grassland. But only one visible form was present.
DARKSPIRIT
Even a light shines in the darkness.
"Duskpaw." A voice spoke, it was old, worn, as if it hadn't been used in ages. The she-cat crinkled a soft, warm smile, she was poised perfectly upon the tips of her toes as her daughter game into sight. A swirl of stars, a swish of the wind. The she-cat destined for so much, but knew so little bestowed Starclan's presence. Not only was she in company of so many nobles, so many known faces, but Duskpaw was in the presence of one's face she had never known.
This cat was her Mother. Darkspirit had died minutes after her children's birth. They never had a face to picture, one to hold dear. They only had the memory of a cold lifeless body, an empty shell of what could've been. But they had never known this hidden memory, for they were tossed into a different world. Grew up on the threads of another she-cat's quilt. They had never known their births mother's voice, her soft eyes, those gentle words. And yet they had all met their father, a cruel, senseless cat. It was only irony that four out of five preferred his ruthless manner.
The one out five, was finally here before her. It was up to this Mother to train her daughter in what was to come, it was Darkspirit's soul duty, destined from birth. "I wish I could've known you." Was the first words from Darkspirit's lips, of course she watched all of her children from the heavens. She watched them all, pained and shattered. Yet there was light shining brightly from the depths of the canyon, it took place in the paws of her daughter.
"I wish you could've known me." The next words fell upon pent up emotions, as the tearful mother rushed towards her daughter. Everything she had wanted had been trapped, and now she could unlock the cage and fly free. Purring she rubbed her muzzle frantically over the she-cat's head, a barrage of licking followed. The worried words only of a mother managed to be spoken,
"Your so dirty, don't you clean yourself?" a few more licks later, "Are you eating enough? Do you get along with everyone? How's Shadowclan coping?"
