Cause of a broken family

Nightscar heard Cinderheart yowl in pain and turned his head. His eyes widened as he saw her in the fox's jaws. Anger shot through him and he started clawing at the fox, at any place he could reach.
'I'm not going to let her die.' he growled to himself. He darted forward slightly and bit down hard at the fox's neck. The fox let out a howl and dropped Cinderheart. Nightscar kept biting down hard and the fox struggled to get him off. Soon the fox grew weak and staggered and fell. Nightscar bit one las time on his neck and staggered back, pain shooting through his leg.
He stood there, shifting his weight so that his back paw was lifted up slightly he turned before padding over to cinderheart. He sniffed at her, the scent of blood covering the sweet scent on her fur.
"cinderheart?" he asked softly, almost warily.[/center]

The drop felt much higher then it actually was. The ground felt much harder then it should have. The air felt as thick as water, and that was coming from a cat who has never been swimming.

A large wound went from her shoulder to her neck and blood was pouring out. Every second breathing became so much harder, and hurt even worse. Cinderheart couldn't believe it, she wouldn't believe it, she couldn't be dying.

But then the worried, yet comforting sound of Nightscar tickled her years. Cinderheart tried to speak, but instead ended up choking and coughing up blood. It only made it worse as her breaths became short, shallow and long between each other. She didn't want to die, she couldn't die. Tonight had been so wonderful, she couldn't die.

Though it was almost inaudible, Cinderheart got out "Nightscar...I don't want to die....." just before her eyes shut.

Nightscar knelt beside her gently putting his nose into her fur. He heard her murmur and looked at her face right before she passed out. Fear crossed his eyes for a moment, but then determination.
"Starclan, I'm sorry, but she won't join you." he murmured. He moved himself to where he could get her on his back. Once he got her situated he started trugging back toward camp. He just hope he'd get back in time.

When the gray warriors eyes closed, she fell into a dream. One that was real, and she wished to forget.

"Mommy! Mommy watch me!" a tiny kit, who was still unsteady on her paws, playfull stalked after a dried leaf that laid on the ground. The older she-cat, fully black with piercing black eyes, watched the kit with no emotion. It didn't take long for the kit to see her mothers displeasure. "Mommy, did I do something wrong?" The mother stood up and padded over to her daughter. "You, Cinderkit, will be a warrior in five moons. You are old enough that you have no need to chase after petty leaves!" The harshness in her mother's tone made Cinderkit flinch.

"Nightpelt, give the little one a break. It's her first time out of the nursary after all."

"Papa!" Cinderkit race over to the gray tabby tom, though you could hardle say he's a gray tabby. He has a patch of gray running from the top of his head, to the tip of his tail, the rest was white. His name fit well, this was Whitechest, warrior of ShadowClan. "Hey, Cinderkit!" it didn't take long for the two to get into a little tussle, with Cinderkit winning.

Though it seemed to be the picture of happiness on the outside, but Nightpelt was bubbling with anger. "Whitechest, stop it. You're an insult to your name and to the clan!" Startled, Cinderkit tumbled right into her mother, who gave a mix or a hiss and snarl at her. Whitechest stood up and padded over to the two cats. "Nightpelt, we need to talk." and then Cinderkit saw the two pad off into a corner, and a few minutes later Nightpelt stalked over to Cinderkit. "Get into the nursary." and she obayed.

Some hours later, Cinderkit padded over to her mother "Mommy, do you love me?" little did the two know, Whitechest was in the entrance. "No, Cinderkit, I do not love you. You are here only because I had a duty to StarClan to fulfill." tears spilled out of Cinderkit's eyes. "What 'bout daddy?"

"He was merely a tool to fulfill my duty."

There was a low snarl, and they saw Whitechest stalk out of the nursary.

Cinderheart opened her eyes as gentle bumps sent shivers of pain along her body. It took a few moments to relize where she was. Nightscar was carring her, and they were entering the camp.
