Can't we all get along?

Selene listened to Blazingclaw intently. Soaking ever word before saying, "That sounds exciting!" She hopped up, big mistake. She let out a yelp of pain and fell back down. She look at her paw to find it covered in dry blood. She began to clean it, swiping her tongue quickly over her paw.

After removing most of the blood, relief flooded over her. The blood was from a thorn that was stuck in her pad and not from her twisted paw. Of coarse, she hadn't felt the thorn, her paw had gone numb a while ago. She sniffed her paw and then pulled the thorn out. It stung but the pain slowly eased away.

Selene looked back up at Blazingpaw and opened her mouth to say something when her stomach let out a loud growl. The she-cat looked embarrassed for a second then said; "I should probably leave. I mean From what you said I can only guess that kittypet like me shouldn't be here." Selene said use the word that he had called her earlier. The small she-cat looked away and stood up.

Blazingpaw was going to say something like, don't stand up you fur-ball! But she was already standing up, and already regretting it. Muttering under his breath he meowed,
"Yeah it may be exciting but it takes a lot of work, and can be quite tiring. You have to fight, there's always the threat of not living each day." Pausing a small smile drifted across his muzzle, it was quite rare to see the tom smile, "But then again the joy of hunting and feeding your clan is something to be proud of. Protecting those who are younger or weaker, being in a clan is the best thing a cat could wish for."

Suddenly the she-cat spoke of leaving, she was upon her paws within seconds and turning to leave, to go back to her boring life of being a kitty-pet.
"Wait--" Blazingpaw instantly shut his mouth, why did I--? Clenching his teeth he looked away,

"Do you want to leave?"Quickly his gaze returned to her face, "Truthfully. Do you want to leave?" It was a pretty easy question, it was simple and straight forward. As far as the tortoiseshell tom was concerned Selene wanted nothing more then to just stay here and learn how to fight, learn about the clans, something! Just something other then to return to her boring life,

"Do you want to leave?" he repeated once more.

Selene stopped and turned her head to look Blazingpaw and meowed, "Look, my life may not be the best life but to just leave so suddenly will cause my 'family' to be troubled. I would love to stay but how am I to know if I can trust you or any of the other forest cats? Am really good enough to become a clan cat like you? And if I am what would happen if I missed my old life?" Selene turned her so he couldn't see her smirk and continued, "But I suppose that's half the fun, isn't it?" Yellow eyes burned into golden as Selene said,

"I want to join..."

He couldn't explain why his heart lurched with disappointment the moment she mentioned her 'other family' and how it would 'trouble' them. The tom expected her to whip around and announce her longing to be 'free' to the world. But apparently he was wrong, she was just a stupid kitty-pet after all.

"Fine. Go back to your old life and go get fat and lazy. And then die somewhere with your life unfulfilled." he snapped, I had given her the chance to change her life and this is what I get? Petty doubts, and stupid reasons? The tom practically felt his fur alight with flames, as it bristled uncontrollably, and then suddenly it stopped. Her head had snapped upwards and her sun-like eyes met his, 'I want to join'.

Blazingpaw found himself gasping, and being rather flabbergasted. "You-You want to join. Bu-but." Clenching his teeth into the soft forest floor and he closed his eyes while letting the frustration leak from his senses. She's joining! I have someone to make fun of! Someone to talk to! Finally I'm not a lone anymore--

"It's not up to me. Come on let's go find Nightsky and the rest of my patrol." Flicking his tail he beckoned for the silver kitten to follow as he padded back towards where his mouse-brained clan mates scattered off to.

Nightscar had finally gotten to the safety of the bushes when he noticed someone was missing. He quickly looked around his ears flicking. He wasn't the best tracker but he just hoped Blazingpaw wasn't stupid enough to go out and try to steal a fish. He slowly stuck his head out and at that moment a small rock pelted him in the head. He let out a yowl of surprise and darted back into safety. He could hear the twoleg kits laughing and just let out a hiss before stalking off back to Nightsky. His head was starting to hurt where the rock hit but he figured he would be fine. It was just a rock.
"Blazingpaw's run off again, Nightsky." he muttered, running a paw over the place on his head. At that moment the bushes rustled and he tensed, his head snapping that way. He pulled his lips back starting to bare his teeth when Blazingpaw's scent hit his nose.
That foolish tom. He's going to be the death of the clan. he thought flicking his ear in irritation, but soon another scent hit his nose and he froze. Who had Blazingpaw brought with him?

Nightsky was the first to leap into the bushes and close behind him came the small she-cat and the older black tom. Nightsky quickly took his tail and pushed Mystery further into the bushes, making sure that none of the stones would hit her.

Soon enough the stones stopped flinging at them and the other black tom spoke, about Blazingpaw running off. Nightsky growled under his breath,
“Great.” Nightsky was about to walk out the opposite way of the bushes from where Blazingpaw was, when the scent of the tortoiseshell tom’s approached him and so did another. With a snort the large black tom stepped out of the bushes to where the scent was coming from.</sup>

Mysterypaw

Mysterypaw held the fish tightly in her jaws. She wasn't about to let her prize go, even if the fish was over twice as big as she was, about three times as big. She kept her mouth clamped around the fish, she knew that it would feed lots of cats. She looked up at the other cats and the hunkered down. The two-leg had given up on chasing them, and had stalked off mutterig words that Mysterypaw was sure were impolite.

Blazingpaw narrowed his eyes at his patrol, his eyes fluttered over to Mysterypaw and he almost-almost burst out laughing at the site of her fish. That thing's pretty much three times bigger than her! Mouse-brain! Rolling his eyes he let his gaze flicker over to Selene for a split-second before meowing to his elders,

"Her name's Selene and she wants to join the clan." Pausing he added with a snort, "I know we hardly take in out-siders but unlike little she-kit over there--" The calico tom flicked his tail towards Mysterypaw and then continued,

"She can actually fight." Pointing his tail towards the gashes along his shoulder he meowed, "See she gave me these. And it takes a lot for a cat her size to pin a cat as large as me." Snorting once more he sat down with a 'huff' to await their decision. He was sure they'd say yes, Shadowclan was lacking on apprentices. But then again, no one was fond of Blazingpaw in the first place. So they might end up rejecting his reason. Either way Blazingpaw was sure Selene would become part of Shadowclan, even if it took more force.

Nightscar's eyes narrowed when Blazingpaw flicked his tail at Mysterypaw. He pulled back his lip in sort of a snarl.
"you really need to lose the attitude, Blazingpaw." he said, his voice a growl. He had never liked the tom. His eyes flicked toward Selene and he let his fur lie flat. It really wasn't his choice, like it wasn't his to see if mysterypaw could stay or not. She did look strong fora kittypet. Maybe if they let Selene stay they'd let mysterypaw.

The fish clamped tightly in her jaws Mysterypaw glared at Blazingpaw. After all she was the one smart enough to catch a fish. Not him, he didn't catch a fish at all, she did. Well she didn't really catch the fish, the two-leg did. But she nabbed it from them clumsy silly creature. Now there was enough fish to feed the whole clan.

She looked up at Nightscar and tilted her head, as best the massive fish would let her.

Nightscar flicked his tail slightly then looked up at the sky.
"We've been out here since sun high....we need to get back soon." he sort of growled still irritated with the younger tom. He just wish he could claw his ears off. Maybe tomorrow if he couldn't talk to Theivingstar, Nightsky would let him take Blazingpaw and Mysterypaw out to the training area and he could show the tom some manners.

Nightsky glanced at the silver she-cat as soon as the tortoiseshell tom started saying that she could fight and she wants to join the clan. He turned his amber gaze toward the gashes that the she-cat had apparently left on him after a skirmish that the two must have had. Ignoring the comment that the large tom had said about the younger she-cat, he nodded his head,
“We’ll bring her back to camp and talk to Thievingstar about this.” He growled shaking his head, Wow so many kittypets at one time?</sup>

Nightscar flicked his tail slightly looking at the sky. He slowly looked back at Blazingpaw a slight irritation filling him. This patrol had taken way longer than it should have. Yes, Mysterypaw did run off but he hadn't helped by bring this cat around.
"I'm going to take Mysterypaw back." he said his voice back to it's constant growl. "I don't see the harm in bringing this kittypet as well. We're already having to ask about Mysterypaw."
He really didn't think they needed to take in too many cats at one time but the weather was getting better. Maybe this is what starclan wanted. and who was he to argue with Starclan?[/center]

A rather irritating excitement bubbled amongst Blazingpaw's breakfest, he was actually thrilled that a new playmate would be entering his world for once, rather then ignoring his pitiful existence. Yet, he was Blazingpaw a tom that usually didn't show uncharacteristic traits out in the public world. Instead he kept his smug, almost smirking smile upon his muzzle and gave Nightscar a triumphant snort. He had won this battle, that was for sure. The multi-colored tom hardly cared that the warrior was his elder, in fact he'd much oblige to spitting at elder's paws. Except that would gain him more then an ounce of trouble, so he staid clear and rested with the knowledge that he was bigger then him.

"Might as well wait for the rest of us Nightscar." he sneered, "Your not getting any brownie points for beating us back to camp." the tom added sourly. Raising his brows he sent the coal black warrior a rather 'disproving' glance before turning his much needed attention onto Selene. Selene. What an odd name, he wasn't quite sure what it exactly meant in the first place. Maybe it meant nothing and was just a name, but surely every name had a back story?

Approaching the petite silver she-cat, he made sure he was in tune with her gentle rhythmical padding before meowing his thoughts,
"What does your name actually mean?" The tom was truly curious, it wasn't something to pass the time, or smooth over their recent encounter, it was just curiosity killing the cat.
