What Love feels like...Really?

^{A chilly breeze ruffled a small tabby tom’s coat sitting by the exit of the warriors den watching what his clanmates were doing around him. His pale amber eyes not leaving the spotted tabby she-cat that walked by the nursery and looked to be headed toward the den. Hawkeyes quickly stood up and padded into the clearing, and with a dipped of his head he meowed a greeting with a murmur,
“Spottedwind.”}

Kestrelkit flung herself from the nursery with an excited squeal, no this wasn't because she would become an apprentice--nor was it because her father had entered the camp. Or anything of that manner, it was all because Kestrelkit decided she would go and make some friends--and not terrorize someone today.

Spotting Hawkeyes she narrowed her eyes, he was talking to that pretty she-cat Spottedwind. Kestrelkit studied the she-cat, she was thin--really thin. Her spotted tabby coat was so short as well. And the large-adorable golden eyes really didn't help either. Snorting Kestrelkit automatically hated her, she seemed soft and well--useless. But it was obvious that Hawkeyes had a thing for her.

So being the proper and well educated daughter of the clan's deputy she was, Kestrelkit decided it was her task to make Hawkeyes totally hate that pretty little kitty. Approaching Hawkeyes she battered her big brown gaze and mewed,

"Hey Hawkeyes--why are you talking to that numb-skull, mouse-brained she-cat?" Batting her eyes once more she mewed ever so innocently, "She's a dummy."

So maybe this wasn't the best way to make friends--no Kestrelkit was back to making everyone's life a living hell.</sup>

^{Hawkeyes turned his pale amber gaze at the young tabby she-kit that had greeted him. He was just about to greet the kit back until she started talking bad things about Spottedwind. With a quick glance at Spottedwind he turned his attention toward the kit.
“Kestrelkit, that is no way to talk about to other clanmates.” He meowed firmly, but calmly.
“Maybe you should go and play with your sister.” He calmly meowed and his eyes soft to show no anger.}

"But--she's stupid." Blinking her large amber eyes she mewed, "She's probably a half-clan--her father was most likely Windclan. Look how skinny she is." Glancing at Spottedwind she narrowed her gaze,

"And nobody likes half-clan scum." Sitting down she gave her brown tabby paw a few delicate licks and then gently brought it down over her ears.

"Plus Mystickit is boring so I don't want to play with her." her meow was long gone innocent it was just plain annoying.

<sup>Hawkeyes smiled at the small tabby kit,
“You’re probably just jealous.” He meowed playfully flicking her tail with his long striped tail. He glanced up at the spotted tabby and slowly turned his pale amber eyes into the kits.

“She isn’t half clan.” He meowed licking his front paw.

<sup>Kestrelkit snorted,
"Jealous? Jealous of a half-clan walking stick?" she meowed, raising her brows she meowed,

"Unlike me she won't have strong enough muscles to make it living in the forest. If she was made for running the the undergrowth will stop her in her tracks." Rolling her eyes she added,

"She belongs in Windclan." Twitching--that's what her tail was doing, when a cat's tail starts twitching that means they're angry--or annoyed. Or something of that matter, but Kestrelkit was both. So to sum it all up Hawkeyes better not say anything to make her even more angered or the she-kit will attack. And Kestrelkit always had some issues with keep her claws sheathed.</sup>

Spottedwind was sitting near the warriors den when she heard Hawkeyes call for her. Swiftly, she got up and padded toward the small tom. As she neared him she drank in the sweet smell and sat beside his flank. A glint of something coming at them made her look up, it was Kestrelkit. Great, now we'll never leave! That kit was always getting into trouble, teasing and messing with other cats. She could make a cat kill itself with how anoying she is!
The small kit looked like she had something on her mind and Spottedwind was sure she'd find out...
"What a little brat! For your information, my parents were noble warriors of thunderclan and are probably going to be MUCH better than YOU!" With that, she turned and flicked her tail at the furry little Kestrelkit and padded quickly out the entrance and into the sheltered forest. Hoping to find relief from that kit, she ran for a while, then stopped by an old stump, sitting in the silence of the undergrowth.

<sup>With blazing amber eyes, Hawkeyes glared at the young tabby she-cat. Stood up silently as the spotted she-cat ran out of camp into the forest after what Kestrelkit had been saying about her and her parents.
“Kestrelkit you know very well that you don’t talk to a warrior like that ever.” He growled swiftly turning toward the entrance of the camp and his pale gray coat soon disappeared from the clearing.

Hawkeyes stepped out of the small, narrow tunnel that protected the Thunderclan camp from any invaders. He sniffed the air for the sweet scent of the small spotted she-cat. The scent came right to him, and without hesitating Hawkeyes took off following the scent.

The gray tom slowed down as the scent got stronger, and a small movement through the bushes caught his eyes. He went up to the bushes and peered through a small hole that revealed a spotted coat of a she-cat. He silently padded out into the opening toward the tree stump that she sat on.
“Spottedwind I’m sorry about what happened back at camp.” He murmured standing in front of the stump.
“I’m sorry if she hurt your feeling back there, but I know you one of the….um greatest Thunderclan warriors.” He meowed struggling it out of him.</sup>

<sup>Kestrelkit snorted, stupid toms--no! Stupid Spottedwing--no scratch that, Stupid Warriors! They always think they're better then everyone else, well in fact everyone's just the same. So what if she was smaller, and more annoying? She was still a cat, should that mean she should be treated with respect?

Rolling her eyes she decided she had enough fun for one day, Rainflight's comforting belly seemed much more nice then this. Plus Mystickit would be wondering what she's doing, and as much as Kestrelkit didn't like to admit it. Mystickit meant the world to the very demented striped kit.

So with an angered heart she padded over to the nursery and slunk into the soft moss, her mother's sleeping body--and her soothing breathing brought the tabby she-cat to peace. Stupid lovey-dovey cats, I swear I'll never fall in love!</sup>

<sup>Rainflight slowly opened her eyes, awakened by the rushing body entering the nursery. Her head rose, her vision still clearing from her recent nap. She felt anger radiating near by, and as soon as her gaze adjusted to her surroundings she saw Kestrelkit was laying beside her.

Her fur was bristled, but slowly flattened as she watched her. Something had to upset her big time. Hoping her mood was a bit calmer she playfully flicked her tail on Kestrelkit's nose, tickling it. "Hey." she meowed quietly. "Something bugging you? You looked like a big furball just a minute ago with all your bristling."</sup>

<sup>Kestrelkit popped open one amber-colored eye, since when did Mother care about us? The icy thought happened before Kestrelkit could control it, Silentkit's acid words still stung her--even to this day. Clenching her teeth she bit back the anger that flowed throughout her small-complex body and finally meowed,

"Just stupid cats and their stupid lovey-dovey-ness." Narrowing her gaze she wondered who her own parents fell in love. It was probably when they were younger. The thought of her parents even being younger gave her the chills--I can't even imagine Owltalon looking young!

Blinking her gaze she shifted her vision into her mother's own glowing blue-orbs and meowed,

"What were you and Father like when you were younger?"</sup>

<sup>Rainflight smiled, laughing at Kestrelkit's opinion on love. But was surprised by her sudden question. Ah...that question brings back memories...

"Well..." she began, thinking back. "When I met Owltalon, he was an apprentice. He hasn't changed much from what I remember...he's a little serious at times. I learned that when he was against me getting into trouble. But he was friendly and strong. You could tell he was loyal just by looking at him."

Rainflight's gaze drifted off upward, trying to remember the past. "I was...like you. I was a trouble-maker, and I loved to fight. I was hyperactive and I remember one time me and my sister Seabird had even left camp to chase down a fox. Actually, that was when I met your father. He saved us."

Rolling her eyes at the memory, she continued. "I didn't want to fall in love because I thought I was too young and I wanted to live my life fully before that happens. But I guess I failed on that." Rainflight laughed. "Hmm...I wonder who you'll end up with." Rainflight smirked, batting Kestrelkit's ears.</sup>

<sup>"Me? I won't end up with anyone! I want to be a warrior not a soft-lazy queen!"she meowed arrogantly, her tabby colored fur bristling once more. She couldn't possibly think of having kits or anything--but her mother was just like her wasn't she? So what if--no! That would never happen, love is for idiots!

Blinking she slowly calmed herself down, that's what Kestrelkit needed was to be calm. Although this was something hard for the she-cat to achieve, she peacefully went back into a guarded curiosity.

"So Mother? If you were like me how did you end up with someone as stuck up as father?" Kestrelkit asked, her large amber eyes battering back and forth--this time not on purpose.</sup>

<sup>"Almost every kit your age has the same feelings, but they have mates in the future anyway." Rainflight remarked, amusement dancing in her stormy blue orbs. "I just can't wait to see you with a mate when your older, and I get to say I told you so." Rainflight snickered.

"Hmm...I never really though about it..." Rainflight murmured. Why did she end up with Owltalon? She didn't seem like her type with his goody self. It seemed like another trouble-maker would take her heart in adventure and excitement. But instead she went with the exact opposite.

"I guess...because...I can make fun of his ways easily." Rainflight joked, shrugging. "But I really don't know. Love is a mystery, eh? Two young warriors in Firestar's time named Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight fell in love and became mates. But in the begining they hated each other. I wonder if your enemy might become your mate someday." The black she-cat grinned. For some reason she loved to see Kestrelkit angry. She just hoped she had a really big enemy on her paws that she couldn't imagine being with.

If only it was like that with Owltalon and I... she thought, wishing she was a kit again.</sup>

Kestrelkit's fur immediantly began bristling, while her cheeks felt like they were burning with fire. No--no, no, no! Not Silentkit. Anyone but him! Screeching she flung herself to the ground and begun wildly wriggling on the ground in terror. Clearly the she-cat was beyond traumatized.

"No, no, no, no, no, no. I'd rather die." shaking, the tabby kit began mumbling incoherently to herself. "My kits would be mentally ill beyond it. They'd be ugly too. Oh starclan no--no. You know what I'll just disown them and claim they were never my kits. I'll give them to Mystickit. She likes kits, even retarded kits."

Images of her and Silenkit kept flashes through her mind and suddenly it didn't seem so bad. No--no...no--

Kestrelfang slunk through the forest, her thin tabby body blanketed by long coating of fur, kept her camouflaged amongst the brambles and thorns. Smirking she spotted her prey, a small-wiry mouse was just inches within her rein of terror.

With a screech she launched herself after the mouse but being the smart cat she was the little she-cat found herself tangled between burrs, branches, and her favorite thorns. "Mouse-dung." she spat angrily.

"Being smarter then usual I assume." a chilling voice whispered into her ear. Kestrelfang grunted, "Yeah whatever now get me the heck out of here." Silentstep smirked and took a few steps, sitting down he watched the she-cat hang limply within the thorny mass.

"Nah--I think I'll watch." he meowed ever-so-smugly. Grunting once more Kestrelkit tried wriggling herself free but the thorns held their grasp too tight. With another tug she found the thorns pierce her skin, with a shriek she flung herself forward but this only made it worse. The thorns had somehow launched them deep within her flesh and expertly shred her pelt. Fresh blood welled from the wounds and slowly began dribbling down her pelt.

Rolling his eyes Silentstep muttered, "Idiot." Grasping the vines between his jaws he pulled them back, at once Kestrelfang was dropped to the ground the a loud 'thump.'
"Ow." she muttered weakly, Silentstep rolled his eyes once more and grasped her neck and began tugging her out of the mess.

"Hey! I can walk on my own you know!" Kestrelfang growled, with the rest of her strength she ripped herself free of his grasp only to totter forward and instantly clasp. Lucky for her she had a comfortable pillow to land on, or should I say Silentstep? The silver tom only stared at her dumbly while the color rose to his face, Kestrelfang only stared back her own cheeks burning.

With a terrified screech Kestrelkit rolled over onto her belly and continued mumbling incoherently. Yep it was confirmed, Kestrelkit's life was now completely ruined. How can I ever look at Silentkit the same?
