Cause of a broken family

Nightscar gritted his teeth from the pain shooting up his hind leg as he slipped into the camp. Once he was inside he gently put her down but didn't leave.
he looked around quickly for Crystalmoon. Or really anyone would be helpful right now.
"someone please help!" he yowled, his vision was starting to black out from the pain. 'No. I have to be here for cinderheart. i can't leave her alone.'
He gritted his teeth and yowled again, louder this time.[/center]

The she-cat just laid there when Nightscar put her down. She had lost some much blood she just didn't have the strength to move. Actually, if it hadn't been for the quick, shallow breaths she took, a cat would believe her to be dead.

Cinderheart opened her eyes to thin slits, even doing that took up a lot of her strength. At least the fox is dead. she thought to her self as she closed her eyes once more.

Tinypaw heard the yowls of injured cats and came running. Taking in what she saw she quickly ran to her den and grabbed what she would need. Then she began to care for the two cats. Cinderheart first, she chewed up yarrow leaves and spread them on the wounds, then pressed cobwebs against them. Finally she gave the she-cat a large amount of poppy seeds to calm her down and dull the pain.

Her eyes looked over Nightscar's leg and she applied yarrow and cobwebs to it.

Mysterypaw came running over. "Nightscar! Are you okay? What happened?" She was talking all at once. However she quickly backed off, and moved to sit quietly beside her mentor when Tinystorm hissed at her.

"Make yourself useful, and go find Crsystalmoon, and pray to starclan for Cinderheart." Growled Tinystorm. Glaring at the she-kit.

Mysterypaw gulped and ran off. "Crystalmoon!" she yowled. "Crystalmoon, we need your help!"

Cinderheart stayed still as Tinypaw worked on her wounds, and it wasn't because Tinypaw would growl at her because she did move, but because she just didn't have the strength. When Tinypaw gave Cinderheart the poppy seeds, it took all of her strength just to sollow them. But it all paid off when the seeds quickly took effect and the pains she was experiencing dulled.

The warrior turned her head slightly to look at Nightscar before closing her eyes to a light sleep.

The whole time Tinypaw worked on cinderheart, he had kept his eyes on the gray she-cat. He hadn't even heard his apprentice come over to him. He watched her stomach rise and fall with quick movements. He looked at her moon lit face and saw her look at him before falling asleep.
He slowly blinked when he heard Mysterypaw call Crystalmoon and run off. he just sat there a little numb before slowly padding beside Cinderheart and laying down before the she-cat.
"It's my fault your hurt..." he murmured softly, thought he was sure she couldn't hear him. "If i hadn't bothered you..." He sighed and laid his head down on his paws. His leg was starting to twinge a bit, but he didn't care. He just wanted Cinderheart to be okay.[/center]

Soon after the light sleep had over taken Cinderheart, a dreamless sleep, a warmth came over her. She had felt so cold before, but now she was warm. Soon after the warmth came, a sound. As hard as Cinderheart thought on it, she couldn't remember who it was who sounded like that.

Who? Who sounds like that? memories from that day came rushing back to her. Telling the story of Tigerstar's children to a tom. She recognized him, yet she could not place his name.

Walking under the pines in the dimming light with the tom, yet still she could not place his name. Sharing the truth about her family, and then the battle. Then the strong tom carried her back to camp. What was his name?

The gray she-cat opened her eyes "Nightscar?"

Nightscar had closed his eyes in thought and was drifting back and forth between sleep and alertness. He heard the she-cat say his name and he perked up his ears and opened his eyes. He looked at her and lifted his head.
"I'm here Cinderheart." he said gently moving slightly closer, although his leg protested. He gently put her nose into her fur, as far away from her wound as possible. He let her sweet scent fill his nose.
"Everything will be fine. he murmured gently looking at her.[/center]

Cinderheart let out a short snicker. "I know that, Nightscar." she replied. "But how are you doing?" The gray warrior held still, knowing that any movement would bring pain. But it felt good to have the comforting form of Nightscar beside her.

Nightscar blinked at the she-cat when she said she knew, and then asked about him. He hadn't really thought about him very much. He looked back at his leg that was covering in herb juice. He smiled easily and looked back at her.
"Eh, it's only a bite...i think I've seen worse." he said gently, licking her ear. "don't worry about me. I won't let some mangy foxdung beast bring me down."
He didn't want to worry her. He knew she needed to rest, but he was glad she was awake. He looked up and saw a few warriors looking at then a slight hint of worry in their eyes.
'It wasn't the rouges.' he kept thinking, but he never said the fact out loud. He would later. [/center]

Cinderheart gave an inward sigh. She remembered the words he had spoken before she had awaken. He was blaming himself, she can't have him doing that. It's what her father had done after he discovered he mothers true feelings.

"Nightscar, it isn't your fault, you know. No one knew about that fox. Only StarClan can see the future." she paused before adding "If you want to spend the rest of you life blaming yourself for something you can't control, then be prepared to hurt a lot of people." she meowed the last part quietly. Her father had blamed himself for her mothers actions, and he ended up with a strained relationship not only with her, but with the rest of the clan.

Nightscar looked at the she-cat as she said not to blame himself. He slowly blinked thinking about the words. Had he really meant it?
"Alright....if you tell me not to blame myself, i won't." he mewed to Cinderheart, "i trust you. And i wouldn't want anything to happen to you."
He murmured the last part, before gently licking her ear. He meant those words. He didn't want anything to happen to her.[/center]

Cinderheart huffed. "Don't do it because I said to. Do it because you know it's right." she sighed and closed her eyes as she listened to the rest of what Nightscar said. He cared for her, and she had to admit she cared for him too. Like a brother at least. He was one of her closet friends, she had shared things with him she wouldn't have shared with any other cat.

She opened her eyes and said something she wondered if she would regret. "Tell me about your sister."

The dark gray tom sort of blinked in surprise. He shifted slightly and closed his eyes for a moment remembering the ginger she-cat. He got really quiet for a moment before licking his jaws and starting.
"Gingerflight is like any sister would be." he started of saying it gently. If she thought you were wrong she'd tell you. If she wanted to state her opinion she did. We were really close, although we did argue quite a bit."
He paused for a moment and thought back to when he had been made an apprentice.
"When we were both six moons old, Gingerflight was so ready to become an apprentice. I on the other hand was hesitant. There were a few things i wanted to figure out before then, but i went ahead with the ceremony. After our first gathering as Apprentices i realized i felt like i didn't belong. Gingerflight had gone to meet other apprentices and i couldn't find anyone that would talk to me."
He stopped looking at her.
"Well besides you. i remember you come up and talking to me with another cat and started talking to me. Hate to say it i don't remember which one. When you started talking me about differences in the clans I felt like I belonged in Shadowclan."[/center]

Cinderheart listened to Nightscar. She enjoyed hearing about Gingerflight. She would love to meet her some day. Then he mentioned the gathering where they met. She remembered it like yesterday. Seeing the tom beside her sitting away from the group, coming over with her friend Dirtpaw, talking to him. She remembered his interest in ShadowClan too.

"That was Dirtpaw. He stayed with the tribe, found a she-cat there." she giggled a little "Wouldn't be surprised if he's a papa now." she went on "I remember that gathering like yesterday. You know, I was only slightly surprised when I saw you, what..., a few days later asking to join?" she paused for a moment or two. "Next time we're at a gathering together and Gingerflight's there, you got to introduce me. I think we've only met once or twice; and that was when you had first joined ShadowClan."

Nightscar smiled slightly as he remembered Dirtpaw. "Oh yeah....that was him." he mewed a slight amused tone in his voice. He looked up at her when she said she wanted to meet Gingerflight. He was slightly surprised but nodded.
"I'm sure you two will get along. She's a great warrior, but amazingly she's not one to fight all the time. Well unless she's changed a lot since I've been gone." he said softly flicking his ears. "But i doubt she has."
He slowly looked around for mysterypaw. He just realized she had been over there. He felt really bad for ignoring her, but he was sure if Crystalmoon would make him rest for a while or not. He looked at Cinderheart quietly fora moment.
"i just realized Mysterypaw had been over here. would you be okay if i took her out really quick. I promised her a patrol by ourselves yesterday and then nightsky and blazingpaw tagged along."
He really hated leaving her alone, but not that he was a mentor he didn't want to ignore Mysterypaw. She was like his daughter.[/center]
