Hunting For Prey? Or For Love?

She could hear it... She opened her mouth and breathed in the juicy scent of prey...She pounced and killed it in one quick snap of her jaws.

Spottedwind thanked Starclan for the kill and buried the plump little mouse in a bush near by. Then she heard something and realized there was a cat around her. She sniffed at the air and knew it was only Hawkeyes. She snuck up behind him and watched him with curious eyes.

<sup>In the small clearing where Hawkeyes stood still eying up a small leaf that moves slightly by a large tree trunk. As it shiver all so lightly, Hawkeyes would take a step forward the leaf. As it shiver again Hawkeyes jumped in the air and out from under the dead leaf was a mouse, of a size of a rat came running out from underneath it, but Hawkeyes caught it just in time.

As he bit down on the mouse's neck he lifted it up in his jaws and turned toward a bare tree that had a faint scent of Thunderclan. As the gray tom dug up a small hole and gently laid the mouse down, the scent got stronger and closer. Hawkeyes lifted his nose in to sky and sighed.
"Spottedwind, what in Starclan names are you doing?" Mumbled the tom loud enough for the she-cat to hear.</sup>

Spottedleaf watched as he killed the larg mouse, and bury it...

" I smelled you and decided to see what you were doing..." She paused and looked the tom up and down. " I see your doing quite well, how many have you caught now?"

She looked around the clearing, with the sun slipping through the branches and onto her spotted tabby pelt. The sky was clear today, a wonderful day for hunting.

<sup>Hawkeyes shrugged,
"Umm... I just started hunting." He meowed turning away from the spotted she-cat.

Hawkeyes slightly nodded his head in an agreement with the she-cat,
"Yeah I guess it is nice out for hunting, we've hadn't had a day like this for a long time." He meowed padding toward the Shadowclan border.

As he padded along ignoring the muddy spots where piles of snow had melted by the warmth that the sun had brought them for today. He silently jumped over the mud puddle and thought he had heard the faint paw steps of Spottedwind. He sighed and turned around to see the she-cat following him.
"So your going to be coming with me I see."

She watched him turn and leave, and decided to follow him. So she padded along lightly, and stopped when he turned and talked.

" Well yes... duh.. I'm bored and lonly hunting alone today, and i want to watch you..." She walked up to him and stood staring at him...
"Well? Lets go then!" She waited for him to move so she could follow...

<sup>Hawkeyes looked at the she-cat with confusion, What in Starclan names is wrong with her. Hawkeyes sighed,
"Umm..... Okay, fine."

Hawkeyes slowly turned toward the Shadowclan border once again and continued his pace that he had before. As he did a strong scent of squirrel came to him. Hawkeyes stopped and turned his muzzle to where the scent was coming from. He turned toward a small tree and had leaves scatter underneath it and there it was, a small squirrel sat there chewing on a nut. Hawkeyes flicked his tail to the she-cat to signal her to try for it.</sup>

She walked on and suddenly he stopped. She could smell squirrel and noticed he did too. He flicked his tail at her and she knew he meant for her to catch it. She crouched and slowly moved forward until she was in striking distance. She watched for a second and pounced...Success! She snapped its neck and said thanks to Starclan. She turned and looked at the warrior with joyouse eyes and then walked back over to the tree. Once the hole was dug deep enough, she dropped the small squirrel into it and covered it with the earth she had dug out.

^{Hawkeyes couldn't help, but smile at the she-cat's success,
"Nice catch." He meowed trying to sound enthused, but he had no success.
Hawkeyes sighed and looked up at the sky and saw that it was getting late and there was suppose to be a meeting tonight. Hawkeyes turned his attention back to the spotted she-cat and meowed,
“We better get heading back, but if you want we can go out tomorrow ?”}

Spottedwind turned and looked at the young tom... "Yeah, lets get as much prey as we can now, then come back later and pick up the rest." She darted off to find some of the prey she had caught, a squirrel, a mouse, and a nice plump grouse, and started toward the camp. By now, the sun was just touching the tops of the trees, and leaving darkness in its path.
