[atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,false][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,469,true] The she-cat pressed herself into the earth. With each breath a convulsion traveled down her spine. She curled into herself, unable to bring herself to her feet. She couldn't face them, not after this. Something inside her snapped. I can't do this. Fawnstep let her mouth trail open, silence spilling from her, Not after this. Minutes swept passed her. Thistlespot's gentle touch brought thorns through her flesh. Even her voice was muffled, dark hissings and sharp bites. Everything was distorted. A few minutes more, huddling, wet and incinerated. The images slowly began to fade, and slowly the she-cat climbed to her feet. Dust coated her pelt, a hollowness in her eyes. Not after this.[bg=ab8078]
Fawnstep padded through the tunnels aimlessly. Her sense of direction was gone. Nothing felt familiar. It was gone, the feelings, everything. Since the moment she was born, she always felt this connection. There were ties pulling her to Starclan. She always felt close to them, as if they'd never leave her side. They were her guides, her guardian angels. But now there was nothing. She felt nothing.
The calico saw the light glimmering ahead. Her hollow eyes followed the light and into the clearing. The remaining medicine cats watched her closely, their eyes trained with sympathy. Had they seen the horrors she endured? The she-cat brought herself into a teetering sit, she let her eyes score over their bodies, and still nothing left her lips. She couldn't tell them what she's seen. They had called her a non-believer. Was she? Was that why she felt so hollow? Before this her beliefs were unwavering - there wasn't any doubt. Tonight she wasn't sure. The she-cat lifted her eyes to the sky, an instinct to her, always looking for answers.
Clouds littered the horizon, and still the moon hung brightly in the night. Why were they staying silent? Fawnstep brought her gaze back to her companions, and coolly the words slid out, "I'm going home."
