He couldn't resist giving the small piece of advice. Sometimes, he still felt like Cloudwhisker's mentor. But she'd been his first apprentice, so he'd probably always feel like that. "Second hunting patrol: Lightningshine, Loudstorm, and your apprentices. Go to Snakerocks; the cold winds should keep the adders hiding in their holes. But still, be sure to keep an eye out." Okay, maybe that wasn't a good idea. Lightpaw probably hasn't been there yet, and there were always possible danger there. But he had to trust Lightningshine to keep her safe.

Blizzardshard looked at his first-born daughter, feeling more like a father than a deputy, but then he forcefully shook his head. "Any volunteers for the sunhigh patrol?"

Frostbite was almost ran over by having patrol running out of camp every now and then. Frostbite had to go herb searching but sadly the herbs she needed died.. she hoped the weather would not get much colder for another moon.. she needed these herbs how was she gonna do her job if she has no herbs. She saw Blizzardshard and the nasty she cat padded over to him and looked him right in the eyes and mewed, ''I really don't understand what your playing at here but my den was only made for one not two..'' regarding Stonepaw her new apprentice she never agreed to having. ''I'm not sitting here being 100 moons old I'm not dying anytime soon I'm pretty sure I'm going to be okay.'' Still glaring at the deputy she looked hard into his eyes with such a nasty glare and then mewed, ''I don't want him take him back.''

This medicine cat was not playing. She hated her apprentice more then anything right now and she didn't understand as to why she needed one. She was just fine on her own and it would just mean no room in her den now if two cats were always walking around and not to mention that she would have to teach.. yes teach the apprentice now and watch him screw up as fun as that was but she took her job very seriously in this clan.

^{Lightpaw had been sitting near the entrance to the apprentice's den when she heard her father's voice. The little apprentice lifted her head, her eyes traveling across camp, trying to find Blizzardshard's familiar pelt. She found him in the center of camp arranging patrols. Her ears perked a little at the mention of her mentor's name, Lightningshine. A small smile flitted across her face. Moments before her naming ceremony she had been nervous - this, she had been looking forward to this since her birth, so why was she so nervous. It crawled in her stomach, inching its way up her throat. And then it hit her. She was terrified of her mentor. They hadn't even said his name, or who it was. But suddenly she was scared. What if she'd be a failure? What if she couldn't do this?

And then they had called his name - Lightningshine - and he looked at her, a smile in his eyes. The anxiety melted almost instantly. He was a good mentor, albeit soft and almost too kind, but a gentle tom with a contagious laugh. Lightpaw would rather spend her afternoons in good company than endure training sessions with someone who couldn't even acknowledge her. The she-cat knew she was lucky.

"Second hunting patrol: Lightningshine, Loudstorm, and your apprentices. Go to Snakerocks-" The white apprentice felt her skin jump in anticipation, just the mention of snakerocks sent shivers down her spine. She knew the stories since her birth - it was the most dangerous place in Thunderclan territory. With a new found light in her eyes the apprentice bounded happily toward her father. "Da-" She stopped herself, cleared her throat and continued, "Blizzardshard! Are you sure?" Lightpaw furrowed her brow, "Do you think I'm ready?"

In all honesty it was a much better question for her mentor - in fact she shouldn't even be consulting her father regarding her affairs. Usually after their ceremony apprentices typically avoid their parents. They had enough of them as kits, and the parents feel the same. A lot of them don't share any kind of bond - they just grow up. But Lightpaw adored her father. Everything about her just lights up when she's around him. He's the only tom in her life - he's the cat she cares for most.

Cloudwhisker turned in her bed, grumbling slightly. As her beautiful blue,gray eyes opened up. Blinking a few time as the low sun, blinded her for a second or two. Gently getting to her paws, her fur felt heavy from the dew that lined the outside of her bed. She shook of the moss that clung to her long fur, was always nightmare for her long, thick fur. Moving slowly, and quietly she stepped over sleeping cats.She got out the den door. taking a deep breath. She noticed the day, Starclan had give them it was not to hot and wasn't raining. Just the way Cloudwhisker liked it.

She walked to the fresh kill pile picking up a small mouse, that had been laid there the night before. She might quick work of eating the mouse. Before looking up, noticed the Blizzardshard was going to address them. Walking over she heard her name being called. Her?! For a Hunting patrol what kind of cat did he think she was?". But she lowered her head quietly " I will do my best thank you Blizzardshard" She thought he was done but it seemed she was wrong. He gave her a little advice telling her the rocks where to be slippery. A small hit her muzzle and she nodded with respected again. "I will, I will be light of my feet" she quietly responded in front of everyone.

Uh oh. Frostbite was coming towards him with an extra-grumpy face on. No wait, that was her usual face. HA. Blizzardshard wiped the amusement off of his face before Frostbite got there, and listened to her rant about how she didn't want an apprentice, didn't agree to one. Honestly, it was all Blizzardshard could do to refrain from rolling his eyes at her. He waited for her to finish before answering, "There are so many things in there I want to reply to, but for the sake of saving time, I'll just say this: go talk to Owlstar if you want to 'return' your apprentice. The most I can do is maybe keep him away from you."

'I'd be doing the chap a service.' It was something he would only say if he wanted clawed ears. He liked them where they were, thank you very much! Lightpaw came up then, anxious about her orders. So he'd been right, she hadn't hunted about Snakerocks. Maybe it would be better if he switched the patrols and sent Cloudwhisker's out to Snakerocks and the mentors and apprentices to Sunningrocks...

Before he could speak up, the oh-so-familiar voice of his mate spoke up. "Oh, don't tell him that, you'll just make him doubt his decision and he'll spend the next hour going back and forth from decision to decision trying to decide a safe place for you to be sent. Snakerocks, you might get bitten. Sunningrocks, you might get attacked by RiverClan. The thunderpath, you might be hit by a monster or attacked by ShadowClan. Tallpines, a falling tree might hit you. Anywhere else, there might be foxes or badgers or dogs."

The entire time Shiningheart was speaking, she kept her eyes on Blizzardshard with gleaming eyes. Oh, she loved messing with his mind. It was slightly sadistic of her, yes, but it was done out of love! Or something similar. Really, it was just fun. With each possible danger she listed, her mate's face grew more and more horrified until he shook his head frantically, probably trying to dissolve some not very pretty images. "Okay, no, that's it. You?" He pointed at Shiningheart with his paw, narrowing his eyes halfheartedly. "Go to Sunningrocks with your patrol. And for the love of StarClan, please, behave."

He turned his attention on Lightpaw, more serious than he'd ever been before when facing any of his kits. "Part of me wants to say, 'You're not allowed to set paw outside of this camp, ever.' But that would be cruel of me, so I won't. Do everything your mentor says, keep your senses open, and stay alert. You should be fine." 'Should' being the operative word. But Blizzardshard had faith in both Lightningshine and Lightpaw. She wouldn't get hurt.

Sun was warm and Lightningshine stretched eagerly outside the warriors den. The night had been a good one as he had gotten a good amount of sleep in and he felt ready and energized to take his apprentice, Lightpaw, out today. Maybe they could work on hunting or tracking or-

Looks like they were going to be going hunting today. Lightningshine didn't' mind that, although the decision to go to Snakerocks was a little wary. He hadn't had a chance to take Lightpaw there yet, not that she probably wasn't ready. She was a quick learner, but adders were still tricky for even trained warriors like himself.
Slowly padding over he heard Lightpaw question her father, the deputy about his decision. He chuckled as his mate gave him a hard time and the deputy sent her away almost embarrassed. It was always like those two to goof off. his ears turned back to Blizzardshard as he gave his reasoning to Lightpaw and then nodded in agreement.
"We will be fine. I was planning on taking you soon anyway, Lightpaw. I think you're ready." he said with a proud purr, "and anyway, adders are nothing for the fastest cat in Thunderclan."
He flicked his apprentices ear playfully with his long tail then stood and stretched again then moved away to wait for Loudstorm and his apprentice, Ravenpaw.
