Black and white tom with amber eyes
A P P E A R A N C E
Patchclaw’s frame is thin, lined with powerful muscles that ripple under his smooth pelt. His muscles make him a formidable opponent in battle, and his sharp claws make him even scarier. The stick out ever so slightly even when he has them sheathed. When in battle, his opponent could very well lose a chunk of their flesh if they allow Patchclaw to dig his claws into their pelt. His face is a rounded square, and his muzzle is thick and hides a mouth of sharp white teeth.
His body is lined with black and white patched fur. Dominated by black, the white covers his chest, and this swirls on his underbelly like a snake. The white also lines his upper lips, and curls up on his face like a mustache. Each paw is tipped in white, and the middle toe on his front left paw is splotched with black. White is also peppered throughout the rest of his body, along his legs and nose bridge, and in his ears, giving him an older look that he actually is.
Sharp, amber eyes glow powerfully in his face. Patchclaw’s whiskers are so thin they are almost invisible on his face. Short, triangular ears top his head, and his left ear is nicked from battle.

Patchclaw is always observing his surrounds and the cats in it. He picks out bits and pieces and connects them to a larger puzzle. He is especially observant of cats and their behaviors. By watching others and noticing why cats act certain ways has allowed Patchclaw to formulate theories as to how he can help those cats improve. But you won’t find him expressing his ideas most of the time. Patchclaw’s line of thought is unique and makes sense only to his self. It would take the tom a whole day to explain how he got to that train of thought before he could actually explain the thought itself. That is why Patchclaw keeps to himself. Because of his difficulty in expressing his thoughts and ideas to others, the tom stays in the background. If a cat watches closely they will notice that he will open up to his sister, Redthorn.
Even though Patchclaw has trouble expressing his theories, the tom isn’t afraid to step up and lead if there is a need. Due to his observations, Patchclaw finds it easy to point out what needs doing and who can do what. He leads great patrols and is able to get much accomplished when given an assignment, like fortifying the camp walls. Patchclaw’s introverted nature makes small talk difficult for him unless he knows a cat well. His logical thinking skills allows him to assess situations and figure out ways that will best help the situation. He is constantly re-assessing projects and assignments to make sure they are still being done in the best and most efficient way possible.
Many consider Patchclaw a hard shell to crack. His reserved nature makes it difficult for Patchclaw to make friends, and many consider him self-confident and proud. Although it looks like Patchclaw doesn’t care about anyone but him and his sister, he has a genuine concern for his clan and those in it. He yearns for the day he is given an apprentice. He dreams of guiding a young cat on the path to warriorship.

Born in a litter of two, Patchkit and his sister, Redkit, were raised by the mother and father, Poppyfoot and Whitepelt. Poppyfoot nurtured both of her children to grow in their own unique way. For Patchkit that meant observing and learning from those observations. Patchkit and Redkit were inseparable as they grew up. They were both so close that it seems liked they could read each other’s minds; and for Patchkit that was an incredible thing. As they neared the age of apprenticeship Patchkit began to develop his own ideas about Clan life and the warrior way. The young tom loved to observe and learn what motivated each warrior to do their best. Finally, at six moons of age, Patchkit was named Patchpaw, and with his sister began their training as warriors.
The young tom was excited to train hard and refine his ideas on the warrior way. His mentor, however, was not a thinker. He refused to let Patchpaw ‘spew his petty ideas’ when there was important battle training to be done. At night, as he and his sister went to bed in the apprentice den, Patchpaw would whisper his thoughts to Redpaw, and the young she-cat would nod in understanding.
Patchpaw’s mentor trained him well, and pretty soon Patchpaw was the best fighter out of the batch of apprentices. The tom his is growth spurt around nine moons and he grew to be larger than his mentor. This allowed him to even best his mentor during their battle training. Patchpaw’s skill as a fighter grew, and thanks to his nightly talks with his sister, so did his thinking skills. Patchpaw was not only able to fight a good fight; he was able to observe his opponent and locate their weak spot and attack that. Finally it was announced when the two siblings would have their warrior assessment. But the day of their assessment was interrupted when a group of rats attacked the clan. Patchpaw and Redpaw fought alongside each other, and both proved themselves to be worthy warriors as they fought off the rats. Although Redpaw had been injured and her warrior ceremony postponed, Patchpaw was named Patchclaw just a few days after their victory against the rats.
Fourteen moons have passed since his warrior ceremony, and Patchclaw has continued to observe and learn skills he hopes to put to good use serving his clan.
